Composite Roof Longevity/Durability?

I found this in the manual not sure if this will answer all your questions but it helped me out.(page 14 in owners manual)

Thanks I didn’t think about checking the manual, but I didn’t see anything in there about good/bad cleaners for the top of the roof. Will check again or appreciate any other tips.

Owner’s manual?! I didn’t even know there was a manual…

Me neither, until now. Just checked the website and there it is.

I also did not know that until right now

I too am looking for advice for cleaning the roof. I just did a thorough detailing of the exterior of my truck (wash, clay bar, cutting compound, polishing compound, wax, ceramic spray, 303 on the camper panels) and I’m curious about using a cleaner wax and ceramic spray on the white gfc roof. Any advice is appreciated.

How did the 303 work?

The 303 seemed to work well. My camper is #229, so it’s been starting to look a little sun faded. This is the first time I’ve done anything besides wash it, and the 303 definitely brought them back to a darker black. It’s probably something I should’ve done sooner as a preventative measure, but better late than never I guess.

I have the exact setup as yours, even my bumper is in the same condition

Hahaha that’s awesome. Bumper’s been fixed now thanks to the sky riot. But, other than new wheels, unchanged. Not for long though, installing sliders next week and still waiting on my Warfab rear bumper/swingout. All that’ll be left is regearing to compensate for all the crap lol

This post is telling me GFC is the best if not one of the best without straight up telling me they are one if not the best.

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on the GFC V2 Pro and I’m excited to pick it up this summer. A friend mentioned that I’d likely need to wax any composite or fiberglass components, which is only the roof panel of the GFC, right?

Do the new models still have the UV film? I aske because this post about it is more than a few years old.

Also, in the manual image further down it says that it is not recommended to take a GFC through an automated carwash, even touchless, but when I reached out to your customer service when I was initially interested (a couple years ago) I was told that automated washes were fine if they were touchless. Which is the current recommendation of GFC?

I just take mine to the self service bay. Not sure I trust driving into any car wash. Seen too many things happen. You just have more control over using the wand and the cleaning agents you want to use.

Understandable, but not always an option where I live. Especially to get the roof cleaned.

Fair enough. Was just sharing my routine. :call_me_hand:t3::united_states:

From my understanding, it has more to do with the soap that is typically used in those, something about it really adversely affecting the anodized parts and or the panels. I would reach out to GFC to confirm.

Yes, bug removers are particularly bad for anodize aluminum. ph is way too high in those things.

Much appreciated, too. Don’t think there was any sass or snark in my response. Using the self serve bay is likely the best route, but I’m just wanting to know from GFC if a touchless is okay because I’ve got conflicting info.

@DirtTrailsWanted Indeed, that is why I asked GFC in here directly.

No, Sir. Didn’t take any offense at all. I just like to have control of my cleaning processes. From my truck to the camper.

Just an FYI. I have a V2 MAX. I’ve run it through an auto wash ā€œTouchlessā€ about five times so far. Does a great job. I have my awning off for the winter, not sure if I would run it through with that mounted. Best part, not a drop of water intrusion. Just make sure the carwash is high enough.
