Thanks for the advice. I followed your instructions to mount them on the side panel and yes I need to upgrade the gas struts. Before I start hunting down new struts what struts did you upgrade too?

I contacted GFC and ordered a set of replacements through them. Here is a pic showing the part number on the ones that they sent.
