Newb in Need of Suspension Guidance - 2019 Taco TRD OR

The nemesis for overland vehicles is WEIGHT! No matter what you do you are limited by the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating). Beefing up the suspention and adding a lift raises the center of gravity which exasperates the situation. Also make sure your front and rear axle weights are even.
The article about the vehicle that did the slow roll over in Death Valley most likely was overloaded, the loading on the rear axle was to high and a high center of gravity.

Don’t assume what your vehicles weighs! Go to a truck stop and weigh it! I use the CAT Scale App.

I have a RAM 1500 with a Icon Lift and upgraded suspension. Because I was over weight My choices were buying a 250 or 2500 or buy a mule trailer. I decided on a 4x6 mule trailer.

Know your vehicle limitations and don’t drive beyond your capabilities!

By the way I’m in Tennessee and love the Smokey Mountains. I also do more than Overland.

Hah already made the mistake of putting Belgrade, MO in my gps app while researching, but 6 hours from Chicago to Montana wasn’t passing the sniff test.

The rig looks sick, man! Thanks. The more I research and read posts like yours, the more encouraged I am to try to cut some weight where I can. Thanks for this.

I see new Jeep owners make the mistake of making to many changes to quickly. (Spending a lot then they needed to)

Take your time and get used to the GFC and then start adding what you actually need. Set a budget and don’t rush.

Learn your vehicle and don’t drive beyond your capabilities.

Good Luck and if you get to Tennessee look me up.

This was four weeks ago at Trailfest 2024 crossing a creek at Coalmont OHC park, Tennessee.
This was a controlled crossing with spotters on both sides of the creek. Never try this alone!
The same goes with Overlanding until you have experience!
