Had my V2 Pro installed at the beginning of August and was told at the time of install that they didn’t have the headliner, but it would be shipped out in a couple weeks. After waiting over a month, I followed up with support to get an update and was told they have no timeline and it won’t be ready until December at the earliest. I asked if they’re offering refunds on that since we paid for something we didn’t get and was flat out told no. After this and all the quality control issues I’ve experienced (and others I’ve seen recently in this community), I’m having a really hard time trusting anything this company says.
I’ll probably go the DIY route and come up with my own headliner, but it’s so disappointing that this was a main feature of the V2 Pro upgrade that we paid for and they literally didn’t deliver. I don’t understand why they’re still promoting/selling a product they don’t even have.
I’ve seen different things in different places. Initially, I was told it would come with everything else at install. One of the product launch videos said they would ship out 30 days after the launch date of 8/1. And if you look on the product page, it just says a 30 day lead time. None of these are even close to accurate, based on what I’ve been told.
I just got my build installed two weeks ago, and realized the headliner wasn’t installed this last week. Emailed a few days ago, no response, so I called this morning and just heard back this afternoon.
I was told they shipped out the V2 Pro’s without headliner as they were waiting for an order. It would have been nice to hear that before I realized it was missing. They said hopefully the next 30 days, and I will have to install it myself. It will start getting cold at night here soon (northern CA), so hopefully I’ll get them by the time I need them.
I was already a bit miffed about the way they rolled out the V2 Pro- in April, they had a big “promotional” sale of $1,000 off for the V2. After they got those orders, they announced the V2 Pro in June, with the price to upgrade of (believe it or not) $1,000. This seemed like a dishonest way to get orders in early. The V2 Pro is the same price as the V2, so it was a “bait and switch” to get orders in early. And then they didn’t even give me all of the things they promised with the “Pro” upgrade (at least yet).
I have not even used my camper yet, and already soured at the whole experience. The product seems great, but the company seems shady. Hopefully they will be more transparent in the future, but I certainly am not recommending GFC to anyone anytime soon.
Understand being miffed at them but just get out and use the camper, you will love it. I’ve had mine for almost 3 years. Use it weekly almost. It i simple and comfortable and you dont even know its there.
GFC has been great. Sometimes slow but they pull through and I am sure they are backlogged. Get out and camp, taking your mind off the annoyance.
Completely agree on the bait and switch. I forfeited my discount to get the pro after I saw a lot of complaints about the V2 (condensation being a big one, which the headliner was supposed to fix). Definitely disappointed by how shady this experience has been so far, and the fact that I had water/dust intrusion and a faulty brake light on day 1, and still no headliner so condensation is an ongoing problem. As someone else put it: they’re pretty good at marketing, not so good at product. I’ve also seen people say the support is great, but that has definitely not been my experience. I had to follow up for weeks on multiple issues, still waiting on replies, and replacement parts that were ordered weeks ago still haven’t shipped.
Also, so weird that they’re still telling people completely different stories on the headliner. Why would they tell you “hopefully 30 days” and tell me “December at the earliest”? Why is there no customer facing explanation for this or the long list of other issues?
We had our V2 Pro installed early June, was notified that the headliner was not available during the time of our install due to last minute design changes - not a big deal for us as I’ll wait for improvements. Our headliner kit was delivered on 8/22. I have yet to install as I feel it’s going to be a pia to properly align. I already had to remove all the pre-applied Velcro on each panel to correct and evenly space each strip. I think it’ll be a two person job due to awkward body positioning needed to work overhead on the angled roof. And I’m the type who extensively built out their entire rig by themselves Lol.
I purchased 1 on launch date 8/01. I just got an email back stating there is an unexpected shortage in the fabric materials. Possible shipment 4-8 weeks.
Just get out and use it. You will love it, headliner or no headliner. I’ve never had a headliner and slept in mine in some extremely cold temps - no problem.
Don’t worry about GFCs customer service. They may be a bit slow responding sometimes, but they are a fantastic company and will always take care of their customers.
Quick tip to help with the installation of the headliner - remove each strip of preinstalled velcro and measure, mark, and apply each strip to the ceiling first. This will allow for a clean looking ceiling with aligned strips if you were to ever remove the headliner panels. This also allows you to install, remove, reposition, and reinstall the panels to get the proper placement your after. This method worked great for tackling it without a second set of hands!
Ok, so here’s what’s happening on headliners. As with all our comms, our goal here is total transparency. So this might get a little into the weeds, but hopefully it also just gives you a real look inside our processes.
When we first launched Pro, Graeme hopped inside, looked at the headliner and decided it wasn’t as good as it could be. He calls it a 7/10 product, and obviously we want everything we put out to be a 10/10 product. So we went back to the drawing board and designed a new one that looks and functions perfectly. The problem that caused is it uses twice the material.
The non-woven marine carpet we spec’d was already in short supply. To satisfy our initial production forecast we’d already bought up all commercially available supplies of it nationwide. It took a couple months to find and set up a direct supply of the correct material in the necessary volumes. The good news is we now have that, and are producing headliners at a rapid rate.
We do still have some refinement to do on our production process, not to improve quality, but to streamline the workflow a bit. And we also need to make a decision about how we’re going to deliver headliners to everyone who’s waiting for one. So we unfortunately don’t have a firm timeline for everyone waiting beyond “very soon.” We will obviously update you once that timeline is something we can guarantee. All campers in current production do have headliners.
Sorry for the delay while we figured this out. The good news is the end product will be better than originally promised, and come at no additional cost to you.
Just wait. You’ll randomly get an email with an invoice for zero charge. Let another few weeks go by and you should see a shipping notification. We picked ours up the second week of June, and received the headliner late august. Same with the drip rails, randomly received no charge invoice a few weeks back and still waiting for a shipping notification. Everything will show up eventually as they catch up.
If you took delivery of your camper without a headliner, you’re on the list we’re working through. We’ll get comms shaped up and be reaching out to everyone very shortly. Sorry for dropping the ball.
I’m still awaiting my headliner ordered on 8/1. The last email update, thats supposed to be every Monday until I get a tracking number, was on 11/19. It’s mid-December now. What’s the scoop? @GFC
Same. And I’m still trying to get replies to issues I’ve been having since the beginning of August, and can’t even use my truck without everything in my bed getting soaked due to multiple water intrusion issues. This company is a disaster.
