Hey everybody, I am very close to putting my rigid solar panels already attached to the beef bars back on the top of the GFC, but I’m vacillating between putting them towards the back or putting them towards the front. Towards the front would be less stress on the struts (and maybe the hinge ) towards the back would make it easier for me to load things on top of the beef racks (my panels are mounted under the beef racks so there’s a little bit of clearance). What do you all think?
I preferred mine to the front of the camper. Less weight I need to pick up when opening and closing the tent, easier on the struts and the strut mounting points. Less likely a heavy wind may close the tent with you in it. YMMV

I put mine toward the front. They are mounted to the underside of the beef bars with brackets I made out of aluminum angle.

I mounted mine to the front because of wire leangth, but its so forward that I think it interferes with my XM signal, so i want to scoot it back. I imagine that being further forward is better for aerodynamics than back…. But I can’t pretend to know that. But it also is better for weight/struts as others have said
