Hit some new fishing spots. The best ones are usually a little out of the way.

Curious how you handle your bike rack at camp with the awning. Do you just take it off and set it aside? Tip it down? Or just not take it for most camping oriented adventures?

For the most part if it’s a full family camp and we’re not moving around; I’ll take the rack right off. If we’re moving around I just tip it down and deploy the awning if required. If I’m by myself I do the same, just leave it on and work around it.

I really only use the awnings if it’s going to be super sunny or potential rain. I don’t set them up all the time. Sometimes I just set up one, it really depends on a case by case basis. When the rack is tipped down it actually makes for a nice step to get in and out. If you’re a tailgate sitter, it’s a good foot rest as well.

The cost vs. weight comparison of using some form of swing out is really not worth it. Because the truck is fully built out, when it’s loaded with gear I have to put about 60lbs of air in the air bags to keep the truck level. So not interested in the 50 - 150lbs a swing attachment would add, plus the cost outweighs the inconvenience of taking the rack off for me for now…ask me in 10 years LOL.
