To lift or not to lift

he did also said he’s of the “buy once cry once mindset”
so that’s why I recommended ironman. nowhere did OP said he wants to get it done cheaply. Now, from what I’ve seen as an installer who does these lift kits almost weekly as well as my personal experiences, Ironman will outlast and out perform Bilstein 5100s.

when doing things, I follow the philosophy of “doing it right the first time even if it is overkill at the time” instead of “doing it to the bare minimum of what’s needed then worry about it later if something else needs to be done.” And that’s how I give recommendations both in real life and on public forum. I’m not for everyone and I can come off as rough and rude, and I don’t mind nor care about that. That said, I offered free information and recommendations that I summarized based on my seat time and what I’ve seen others paid to learn, and whatever OP chooses to do is his choice.

i’d tell him to go King or Fox 2.5 DSC and that, my friend, is what not listening to what he’s asking for is.

I didn’t want to lift my truck, thats why I went in the direction that I did. With the rake the leafs caused, I added the OME 2.5 coils to level out the truck. Did I end up with a small lift in the end, yeah, but the HD leaf pack is what was needed for the camper and my build. And the coils were so the truck didnt have a goofy stance. And I am still able to run close to stock size tires without it looking weird. I have put a lot of miles on this set up, on and off road, and its been great. So I am happy with the route I went, and that it didn’t cost me thousands to get it.

I am getting the Ironman Stage 2 FCP kit installed on Friday. So far I have just been running stock suspension with a leveling kit which is what was on the truck when I bought it. Definitely starting to see some sagging in the rear after a little over a year with the GFC and it’s substantially more noticable when fully loaded. 2013 Tacoma 4.0L V6.

I’ll share my initial impressions after the install.

Hey everyone! I appreciate all the feedback and insight I got! I had the GFC installed at the end of December and instantly saw over an inch of sag and pretty terrible handling. I ended up pulling the trigger on a full lift kit. I went with the Dobinsons 2.5inch Nitro charger kit with UCA along with the icon rxt leaf pack set at stage 3. I also picked up some new wheels and tires and opted for some wild peaks at 285/70/17 with a CMC. The drive quality is incredible and definitely improved over stock. I didn’t notice much power loss or a fuel economy hit on my driving so far but I also no longer commute to work and it’s only seeing highway driving. The stage 3 setting for the leaf pack is stiff for just the GFC but when loaded up it’s perfect for me.

Overall very glad that I just bit the bullet and spent the money up front. Thanks to everyone again for all your thoughts!
