How much did you shorten your rods?

Not sure exactly. I shortened them twice till I was happy with the results. But I think I reduced them down to about half of their original length.

Thank you!

Thank you!

That’s awesome, do you have the file for 3d printing those? Thinking I might want 2 rock lights on each side for scene lighting when pulling to camp at night.

I found that we never used them when it’s sunny and hot, pretty much regardless of how hot it was, we would just fully open the windows. Being able to zip down the top of the rear panel on the new pro tent still gets us enough privacy and ventilation.

Truly, we have only used the prop rods with the fly when it’s raining overnight, to provide ventilation so that we wouldn’t end up with loads of condensation. As the prop rods came, they were too long and would allow rain to come in the sides of the window, so shortening them allowed us to keep that window open while its raining.

Im not sure if you could couple them back together to have the shorter and long option, they are under a good bit of tension when bent, even when long, so I’d image that couple would fail at some point, I think the best move would be to have two length options with you. However, for us, the shorter option is the only way that we use it.

Meant to ask, did you just cut them with a hack saw?

Im sure a hack saw would work great, I used the edge of a bastard file that I have in the truck. Made a small notch, then broke them by bending them in the opposite direction of the cut.

Made riser brackets for the rain fly to work with my 270 awning. Have the side one almost done but I botched one of the rain fly blocks during some initial iterations. Might end up cutting the rods too as posted earlier…I agree that it would make the rain fly more functional.

Where’d you get the grey “GFC”-engraved handle on the rear of your camper? Custom-made?

Came with the V2 Max. Finding that they are not willing to sell some of these parts yet as they are just making enough for their new campers/installs.

Well, that settles it, need to upgrade to the Max now. Just been waiting for a reason to validate the purchase
