Just got my V2 pro on Thursday, thought I’d post on here to track the progress of the truck, and hopefully spark some ideas for future projects. Follow along, or don’t
The First issue that I brought upon myself:
I decided I didn’t want anyone seeing into the bed of the truck. On previous truck shells, I hated how exposed everything felt. So I saved money, and got what I wanted. What I didn’t realize at the time was that seeing backwards is sometimes important… Which led me to the Wolfbox G900 Pro.
I’ve never been inclined to buy a black vehicle, but these pics of your rig with those wheels make me question things. And the GFC tangerine just pops. Nice choices.
Thank you! It’s about 2.5 in the front and 3 in the rear. King 2.5 coils in the front and king 2.5 with external reservoirs in the back. Deaver leaf pack with a swapped second leaf for a heavier spring for more weight capacity. I went to North County springs in Escondido San Diego to have it done. He said if I would’ve brought him the stock leaf pack he could’ve done a lot more with it. If you’re in the area, he anvils all of his leaf packs by hand. Super knowledgeable guy! Tires are technically a 32, but it’s a KO3.
I’m getting a V2 Pro installed in a couple weeks ok my first gen Tacoma. Just wondering if you did any prep ahead of time before you got yours put on? Also wondering if you’ve had any water intrusion issues? If so what did you do to fix them? Awesome truck by the way!
Nice man! I didn’t have to do any prep, just make sure you don’t have any rails or covers on the edge of your bed or items in your bed so the install people have room to work. If you’d like, probably a good idea to seal your bed rails. Ive heard it helps with water and dust. I’ve only been in lighter rain since I’ve had the camper, so the water had been minimal and my bed is not sealed. And the drains at the front of the bed usually take care of any water that gets in. Maybe I got lucky because I have heard of a lot of water leaks. The biggest thing I noticed was dust while off-roading. But a vent to create positive pressure, and a tailgate seal usually handles that!
Thanks for the info, by sealing the bed rails do you mean the corners closest to the cab? I know on our first gens the part of the box closest to the cab sits a little lower than the sides of the bed. I’ve also got the factory plastic bed liner in mine I’m planning on keeping as I have a slide in camping platform. I wonder if I should take that out, clean and try to seal under the bed liner.
