Installation experience . I’m trying to figure out which brackets work best for a 270° awning on a V2. Also curious which 270° awnings are the most substantial—thinking 23Zero, OVS, Bushwakka, etc. Any opinions or experiences?
In the same boat as you - waiting for my max to arrive, but there’s next to no info on pairing 270 awnings with these things.
I’ll have a video up in 2 weeks. Most awnings you’ll need 3 GFC brackets. The www.ReignOutdoor.com 270 V2 is one of the lightest freestanding awnings on the market 43lbs. With amazing custom services and replacement parts! Built in legs and led lights with 3 colors.
This is my version 1 with a optional universal light kit installed. He sells these for anyone looking to add them.
New 270 V2 awning with lights
This is my wife’s 180 but this is what the lights look like on the 270 as seen above. Full length down the arms ALL ARMS.
I’ve been running a version 1 on my V2 GFC #1919 for 2 years now. I ran a FSR V1 for a year but I really wanted built in legs and a company that sold replacement parts. Why would any company sell a $1200 awning and not have parts is beyond me. My wife has one of his 180s with the built in lights. I also like how this 270 is squared off at the rear of the truck. Heck Reign Outdoor even sells a rain gutter to close the gap. Full room enclosures, organizing panels, and windbreaker panels. https://youtu.be/Kb1nqTJZ5Uw?si=5rLlPRtFNq_dxD_p
Just a side note Reign Outdoor is the go to awning sold and installed by Super Pacific Campers.
FSR V2 has held up well. If I was to look for another brand now on the market, I’d probably look at Reign and Taruca (heavy and may flex the GFC side).
I went to Overland Expo last weekend and had the pleasure of meeting Graeme and the crew. One of the coolest things I learned from them is that GFC is working with Clevershade to make their own 270 awning. It looks amazing, is super light, and rated for up to 25 mph winds. Their goal is to sell it for under $2,000. I took a couple of (very poor) photos
I’m intrigued by this. Any other details on weight, lighting, poles for stronger winds? (I’ve taken way worse photos by the way
)
I don’t know the weight but Graeme said light weight. They are looking into adding lighting. There are no poles for wind but there are fold out connection points for guy lines. That orange led light rope in the second photo is attached to one via a small carabiner
Gotcha. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with! Thanks YetiX
