So because like many of us I can’t leave well enough alone I am going down the rabbit hole of swapping the factory GFC brake light out for a multi-purpose light mount.
When finished it will have two brake lights and two chase lights replacing the existing chase light shown as well as the factory GFC light.
The brake lights will be dual intensity, coming on with the tail lights and going full intensity with the brakes.
Current:
I’m still waiting on the lights to arrive but this is the general layout.
I am using this to control the brake lights, again waiting on shipment to arrive.

After a shipping delay the lights finally arrived. I switched up and decided not to use the dual intensity light module.

I added a dual intensity relay from Diode Dynamics to the red lights, now I have a running light/brake light combo along with the chase lights.

Very nice, I like the design! I’m looking to do something similar. My factory GFC brake light has some damage and I’ve been meaning to fix it for ages.
Reach out to Darkeside Overland if you want the mount, version 2 will have the newer Wolfbox camera mount integrated.
Very cool, thanks for the info!
Installed version 2 of the Baja Designs light mount today with incorporated Wolfbox camera mount.
The camera slot is tapered so you don’t need to use screws or tape to secure the camera, it is held in place with 2 4mm screws and washers from the rear.
The camera shroud does not interfere with the rear hatch fully opening.
