I am in the process of finishing my bed platform, in the picture you will see the mockup. I still have some final touches to make for top access.
The wood I used is Big Box Store 1/2” Birch Plywood, all edges were finished with 1/4” round over. I am going to paint on wood glue to seal those edges first. Next I was planning to seal all surfaces with two coats of Behr clear waterproof sealant then lightly sand the top surface. Third step is applying two coats of Herculiner.
I live in the PNW so moisture is my biggest concern, carpet is out of the question. If anyone has specific experience or suggestions I am all ears.
I thought about using the marine adhesive foam, but decided on bed-liner paint for additional water proofing. I watched videos and looked at a bunch of different drawer systems and designed it for my purpose. I’ll post some finished photos when it’s completed.
While I don’t live in the PNW (UT is pretty dry) and I don’t have a build out but more of a gap fill for my bed liner, I coated the ply in multiple coats of poly urethane, the covered the top with clear skate board deck tape…
