I agree with @Kwood, I would guess the fit would be perfect and you might be able to close the gfc without deflating (though opening the deflate valve is probably advisable to avoid thermal expansion that might bust a mattress seam).

If only Backcountry.com wasn’t involved, I might consider that. After their whole fiasco of suing smaller companies who dared to use the word “backcountry” for any part of their branding, I will never do business with them again. Sad, I used to enjoy Steep and Cheap.

Backcountry made a mistake. They owned up to it and have continued to support the businesses they wronged. Cancel culture is annoying. They have awesome employees and customer service.
I just had a great experience with them when evo screwed me.

Definitely looking for your feed back on two singles with 2 ppl as well. The two singles would also allow me to have one in the tent and one on the platform in the bed when out on a hunting or fishing trip with a buddy.

@dakine (@Clon1c ), that early October trip I’d planned to try two singles didn’t happen. I’ll let you know if we manage a late season trip before things get too cold for our toddler. If not, we’ll definitely get a report back in the spring.

What a great thread! Picking up my V2 in January. I already have 2 exped single mats but want that option of always having access to through the bottom of tent. I heard the XL sheets from GFC actually fit the standard version which may make putting a 2" latex topper on the original GFC pads with the fitted sheet on. Question would be can the unit still close properly or do you just flip the panels over?
I have a 2 inch topper on my v2 mattress. The top closes with a little extra effort and I can notice the slightest bow in the roof.

I have a bunkhouse travel trailer. The existing 2 inch pads were pretty uncomfortable to sleep on. I slid these 2 inch pads underneath, now the bunks are very comfortable with 4 inches of total padding.
Anybody tried a KingCamp 3D double? seems like it could be a good fit for the standard camper but don’t know anything about the brand… (dimensions: 50.3 x 79 x 3 inches)
Been using a Paco Pad for years on river trips and car camping trips. Is the truck pad the same as a normal Paco Pad in terms of inflating to comfort? I could see getting that to have for when it’s me and someone else in the tent and using my normal Paco Pad in bunk mode when it’s just me. I would likely take out the GFC bedding and just leave the decking. As for the material my friend makes custom covers for the Pacos which make them the best option when weight isn’t a concern! I’m glad you mentioned them on this thread because I’ve been thinking about how I could utilize the Paco I already have.

The truck pad is different. I ended up getting lucky and buying a custom made one that someone ended up not picking up. It’s at least 3” thick when inflated and extremely comfortable.
I also have a normal “super” version that is just big enough for me. I usually bring that one if I’m rolling solo because it’s so much smaller.
Yeah I have the thicker Paco and the truck pad being 2" probably is a little less then I’d want. I’m thinking of just getting a 2nd pad that matches mine so I have 2 for general use but then can use 1 or both in the tent when needed.
Did you remove the GFC cushioning and just use the Paco on the deck so you can close it with the Paco set up? I was thinking of doing that and just using the small GFC cushions for camp seats/bench seats.
Nope, I didn’t do anything to the regular mattress. I just throw my Paco pad in the bed of my truck. When I open the tent I throw it up there. Easy peasy.
We have the 5th Wheel Camper and the Queen Bed Mattress left with plenty to look forward to. I value quality sleep and have been looking to purchase a replacement mattress for campers. I stumbled across a Memory Foam Mattress and read the reviews and decided to give it a try as it is much cheaper than replacing the entire mattress. It was excellent, with a thickness of 4 inches which is a significant positive as it will give me enough support and comfort to give me a good night’s sleep.
What brand of memory foam did you buy? Will the top close OK after installation?
For what it is worth, I do deep dive into using a 2.5" self inflating pad in the standard rooftop tent camper. I originally used the Big Agnes Hinman that was a little tight and I just found the Mountain Summit sleeping pad that was on sale at REI Outlet that fits more easily into the tent and can be closed when the pad is deflated. Hopefully somebody can get some value out of it on deciding if they want a sleeping pad and what will work.

This mattress topper also helps that this product comes with a 5-year warranty, which will give me some protection for something like a tear happening. It’s never a bad idea to get a little insurance against an accident occurring especially with someone as clumsy as me.
