For what it is worth, I do deep dive into using a 2.5" self inflating pad in the standard rooftop tent camper. I originally used the Big Agnes Hinman that was a little tight and I just found the Mountain Summit sleeping pad that was on sale at REI Outlet that fits more easily into the tent and can be closed when the pad is deflated. Hopefully somebody can get some value out of it on deciding if they want a sleeping pad and what will work.
