Camper squeaking now

We’ve had our 2.5gen camper on our 2gen Tacoma for a few weeks and have spent at least 7 trouble free nights in it.

After driving a very rough dirt road into a dispersed campsite, we climbed into the tent and noticed that the camper itself would squeak when we moved around in the tent.

Back at home, no squeaking.

We are certain that the squeaking comes from the camper frame and not the Tacoma suspension. When we rocked the Tacoma from outside the tent, no squeaking.

Any ideas?

I’d start by checking the torque on all 4 bed clamps. The new billet clamps are meant to be torqued to 40 ft-lbs and recommended to be checked after the first 500 miles. It uses a 5/16” allen key. Cheers!

Are you using the mantis claw ladder mounts?

I find those squeak bad between the mount the the tent connectors. I added some rubber mastic on mine to quiet it down.

Yep. I will check that out.

Similar experience, had mine installed on Friday, no noises. Drove on a rough road, and now I have squeaks.

Have a proV2, no ladder, installed on a Maverick.

Checked all the clamps, they are all very tight (1 hex bolt and 2 nuts each) but the squeaks persist.

Tacomas have composite beds that flex. If you leveled your rig, that may have been causing the squeak. While my V1 hasn’t squeaked yet, I usually have trouble closing my tent while on leveling blocks. I have to back my tacoma off before the tent will close due to bed twist. Maybe you’re hearing the bed moving?

Peace.
