Diesel Heaters for a Newb

Just got the HCalory TB max for my camper. I do not have the camper yet, I pick it up in April. Just looking for some input on how others are using their diesel heaters! My plan is to put it on a wheel step I have. Then want to add a port to the side panel to put the heat in and run a hose from the tent back to the heater to recirculate. Again, this is the plan at this point but we all know how this can go. I live in CO and am looking forward to having a good source for heat in the unit.

no need to overthink it.

I tend to do that. lol. Do you find that putting the heat line in the tent heats up the bed area too? Keeping a dog lower.

hmm not sure tbh. usually when im in there when not sleeping i have the floors moved so it heats the whole thing, but when i’m sleeping i close the floor and i have no clue how it is downstairs.

but if you’re open to sleep with only one floor panel not put in i don’t see why it wouldn’t work well.

I’m starting to think about a diesel heater too. I watched GFC’s video and that seems to take up a lot of space so I think I want to go a different direction but not sure which

theirs is a bulkier option as it’s mounted inside. if you go with a case type like I did then it doesn’t take up that much of space.

The heater is not released yet either. Close from what I understand and a little too rich for my blood at this point. Just bought the camper and going to cheaper route for sure to start.

just get yourself a hcalory one and done. you can remove it when you don’t need it as well.

Do you know where you got that vent tubing from? I have the same heater and have been struggling to find a good vent tubing in the 3.5 in size to route into my tent.

Get this and do a step down.

I’m considering a diesel heater now. GFC’s video made me realize the one they have takes up a lot of space, so I’m looking into other options but haven’t decided yet.

here. this is a 3in

I like what they are doing but I just figured that I am not living in mine so the cheap chinese diesel heater is the better option…if it fails too, I not out a whole lot of money. I ended up getting the TB Max as it is supposed to be almost weather proof (they are going for a IPX4 cert on it from what I understand). I really thought about the pelican style box too, seen in this thread, but opted for the newer TB model.

If you want to shorten your hose, I’ve got an option for you.

Thank you! Does not work with the new Toolbox Max though. Just gonna put it on a tire step I think.

hmmmmm

good find. now i gotta shorten my hose even more to take out any drop in the hose that reduce airflow

This looks rad! Good find!!!
