Diesel Heaters Recommendations

Hello,

New to the forum, I have a V2 PRO Max on order and I am researching Diesel Heaters. I am trying to see if anyone has any recommendations on Diesel Heaters. I plan on using for winter camping at our local ski resort. I have been looking at the LF Bros N2-T. All reviews on Youtube are paid unboxing. Trying to see if anyone has any real world experience and or other recommendations.

Thank you

How technical/DIY savy are you?

If you want to just buy one that works but isn’t the BEST than the LF Bros N2 is a fine option. I would not travel with fuel in it and I would store it in a plano box or similar while traveling.

If you’re able to build things buy a heater standalone and follow the keegan builds guide. It’ll cost between $300 and $500 depending on upfitted parts but will be a much better option than any all in one unit you can buy on the market right now unless you go with the unethical engineering heater build.

Anything Espar or Webasto. I don’t know much about Chinese heaters. But, I’ve owned both of the above brands. They are spendy, but top notch.

I know a great deal about the Chinese diesel heaters; they’re great! They’re cheap, easy to fix and parts are cheap. I use one I’ve built in a box for years, I’ve had to replace parts on it but it’s still going strong. I have another one that has Bluetooth, MaxxSpeed I believe is the Amazon brand, mounted in my trailer that I live in full time. It works great!

Stay away from Autoterm! I have had nothing but troubles with my petrol heater I have mounted in my truck.

That’s my 2 cents.

Toolbox 2.0 or just wait for GFC to release their diesel/gas heater.

The all in one hcalory are solid or if you build your own, I recommend Lavaner.

Have you had issues with these leaking diesel?

I was looking at the new Toolbox Max, but base on the gas cap alone I started leaning towards LF BRO’s. I wish there were folk that would post long term reviews on these things.

Thanks for the advice, I have thought about making one, I have watched a few videos and it seems straight forward. I was trying to save time I guess, and get something turn key.

The V2 toolbox where the tank is inside/above the heater seems to have a better lid. I wouldnt trust it topped over but from when I used it, saw no leaking. Id recommend putting it inna tote though just to be safe regardless

I haven’t heard any negatives about the redesigned V2. I always keep mine uptight.

I have been using the LF Bros. I drilled a hole in the cubby on my Tacoma to feed the hose through. I just returned from a fishing trip and used the heater to dry my waders each day. Sure makes a difference in keeping the humidity down in your tent.

That’s awesome. Are you able to plug the hole in the cubby when you’re not using the heater? I was thinking of doing the same thing

I ended up ordering the N2-T version to use until the GFC version is available. I need to find an elbow like you have and grab a new hose. I don’t think I want to punch a hole through my bed.

Yes I installed deck plate cover from a marine application.

I had waterproofed/dust-proofed the cubby hole previously so it is completely sealed when the heater is removed.

I have this one and it works great. The only issue I have is the gas cap tends to leak when driving. Saran wrap under the cap appears to help a bit.
