This started in another positive pressure vent thread but I’ve since had a number of people reach out to me about it. About 9 months ago I modified a Bud Industries IPV-1116 universal air vent to work as a small positive pressure vent with some pieces I had cut at send cut send .com
If anyone wants to take a run at this I’ve made those same parts available at sendcutsend’s marketplace:
DIY Positive Pressure Vent Kit for Go Fast Campers
This kit doesn’t come with the vent. You’ll have to source that elsewhere (currently $12 on Amazon). On top of that it’s very much still a DIY project. I would estimate an hour, but that doesn’t count the time that most of you will spend probably sanding and painting the vent to match your side panel color, or some other accent color, etc. You obviously need to be comfortable drilling holes in your side panel with a large hole saw and then making some smaller holes with the included template. You’ll also need your own tools and mounting hardware.
I spent quite a bit of time putting together the instruction sheet, complete with photos and what I would consider a very comprehensive tool and needed parts list. It’s a 6-page PDF. The instructions are available as a download if your purchase the parts.
Lastly… my mark-up on this kit isn’t very much. Like… a cup of cold crew at Starbucks. Just in case people are wondering.
I still haven’t come up with an objective way to test the effectiveness of this particular kit with regard to dust mitigation, even though it works identically to other products on the market. I would say it helps, but probably works best in conjunction with other simple dust mitigation aids. If it was a larger vent with an electric fan it might be something closer to a one-stop solution? On the upside, it’s very small and low profile.
Let me know if anybody has any questions!
