Gas Mileage Effects

Has anyone seen an MPG increase with a fairing like this? I have a diesel Colorado and took a sizeable hit with the GFC. I was up around 27 MPG highway pre-GFC and now get about 22 MPG.

Picked up my camper six months ago got about 3000 miles on it now I’ve lost 1.5 to 2 miles per gallon of no deflector straight up stock V2 camper Toyota tundra 2021 5.7 L

Anyone have any experience with mpg loss on the current gen Ford Ranger? Haven’t seen any ranger specifics in this thread yet. Still above 20mpg highway? Thanks!

I’m around 19MPG with my Ranger on the highway. I am running slightly larger BFG ATs which also hit my mileage. I have an old thule wind faring that I’ve been playing with to see the effect but so far I’ve seen maybe .5 MPG gain with the fairing.

2019 scab stock size tires, leveled truck: I went from 21-22 to 19-21 MPG half city/highway. that 19 MPG is with winter gas. on long trips below 60MPH I can stay above 24 MPG average

@Jeffbreezy @blackhearse Thanks both!

2021 Tundra got ~16 mpg on way to bozeman (900 miles) and ~12-13 on the way back. Thinking of adding a wind deflector up front.

I am currently averaging over 20 mpg, with mostly highway miles and my Leer 180 midrise topper.
Very interested to see mpg difference when I get my GFC next Spring!

Expecting to get slightly less mpg with the GFC, just based on the shape of the 80/20 alum frame compared to my smooth Leer fiberglass. We shall see!

What do you have for wheels on your rig? I like the look of those

I’ve got a 21’ xlt tremor, I averaged 18 brfore the camper and that has gone down to 16.4. But most likely if anyone other than me was driving those numbers would both be higher…

Thanks! They are Pro Comp 17" 69 Series alloys.

I’m getting 15mpg on a 2nd gen Taco, best case, post gfc. Curious if others are in the same range or if something is up with my truck. I dont have a good pre-gfc mpg.

Other factors: 3" lift/33’s (falkon wildpeak), carrying ~800 lbs including passengers, supercharged. Martin roof rack with deflector.

Umm, I think you’re fine. I get 14-16 on the highway in my third gen with 2 passengers and a light load of gear. With mtb or surfboard slightly worse.

Peace.

3rd generation Tacoma with a loaded down bed, roof boxes and other stuff and I get 16…. I also run a tune for the transmission shift points

3rd gen taco trd OR 4x4 longbed with kings 2.5 all around, icon rxt option 3 leafs, sliders, c4 hybrid bumpers with lights and winch, 265/75 r16 falken wildpeaks stock gearing and a magnuson supercharger, GFC camper and mild buildout and if im driving under 70mph i get 18mpg, if i go over it drops fast lol.

Honestly, stock 2019 Tacoma SR5 with stock tires and one 80/20 drawer build (stocked) and I have been averaging 21.4 over 5100 miles mostly to/from mountains around Colorado.

Yeah. Mine will get 21.4 on a downhill with a tailwind, sometimes… Ha!

I still want to see pics of that that 78 westfalia…

Peace.

Funny enough it doesn’t exist. I’ve always wanted one. Tried to purchase several over the years. You know how it goes…looks amazing in person (that sage green interior) then you show up and its a rust bucket and you’ve been attacked by ants in a field.

One day though, I hope!

Holy cow, I can’t believe those Tacomas get such bad gas mileage.

I maybe lost 1 mpg on my 2500 Power Wagon on 35"s and average maybe 14-15mpg mixed and as high as 17.4mpg highway @ 75mph. In stop and go traffic I might get 13… :skull:

Gen 3? Automatic? Two things to do, first get the OTT or KDMax tune, Second is change your gears to 4.88 or 5.29:1 depending in how much weight you are adding. ATs run 3.91:1 stock while MT run 4.30:1. The ATs suffer from poor gearing and gear searching.
