As you know the GFC rear hatch can be locked but the tail gate can be opened. Here is an easy way to securely lock the tail gate if you have the Cali bed stiffeners.
You need a 3/8 threaded eye bolt, two 3/8 flat washers, a nut, a small D ring tie down and a two inch carabiner .
The d ring lays flat on the tail gate so you won’t get snagged and the eye bolt is a convenient tie down
