Did you sell your covers through GFC as well? They look exactly the same.

@pablomoca Long story short, no. Would have been awesome but unfortunately GFC released their own design some months after mine.

That is unfortunate.

I have both and definitely recommend his over the gfc ones … theirs are really stiff and hard to open and close…his just pops open and close effortlessly…

If you need to save money gfc on the side but definitely his on the back panel… even then I would just do his…the gfc ones are kinda a pain…

I’ve had the GFC version on my camper for two months but I just placed an order for the ones from @Buhlockaye because the GFC ones are way to stiff and have become a source of contention for me. Even when warm they are difficult to work with. I should have ordered his in the first place.

Also, it took almost two months for the GFC ones to arrive. No idea why they have such a slow production on these items.

Thanks @Jtc ! Funny enough, GFC has raised the price of their covers; They are no longer at ~$12. Appreciate your business and feedback!

Thanks @dmg5000 ! Appreciate the business and feedback. Seems like a lot of people are finding the GFC ones to be pretty stiff unfortunately.

I’d assume most of their focus is on camper production and the margin on the covers aren’t worth spending a lot of time on to them.

I bought the GFC ones thinking you had somehow started selling your design through them. It seems like they “borrowed” your design and tried to undercut you. I just placed an order for 6 of yours @Buhlockaye can’t wait to get them.

I would offer this input, on my last trip with 4 other GFC’s, I have blakes covers and one of other guys had the GFC covers. We had some cold nights and in the morning the GFC covers wouldn’t even close because they’re too stiff. I had zero issues with mine.

Now imagine if the weather was freezing, the GFC covers would be useless. I’ve had blakes covers through the winter with zero issues.

Can attest to Blake’s working well below freezing. Like -30 degrees and they still worked. Funny enough the latches worked down to -50 but the little strap that attaches the cover snapped so I just put the latch covers on until I could get them replaced and they stayed on no problem :joy:

Blake then sent me an arctic version and they’ve been great since.

I’ve been sending out the “Arctic” version (larger hinge) to everyone for quite some time now so can’t wait to see how they do this winter for ya! And for the 99% of us that don’t see that temp, they’ll be perfect :joy:

Just ordered a six pack (5/27/24). Looking forward to installing.

Just curious since I got my GFC used, locks look clean but what’s best way to clean them out other than compressed air?

Check this thread and the one lined within for everyone’s thoughts…Lock Lubrication

The biggest issue, which prompted the creation of the latch covers, is the freezing temperatures/snow here in Montana. Snow would get into the latch/lock and freeze everything up. I would also have issues where the “door” on the lock would get stuck open and allow ingress of water, snow, dirt.

To help keep things smooth, spraying some Tri-Flow or similar lubricant into the key hole will keep things from sticking up too bad. Won’t fix them from freezing in the snow, if you experience that type of weather, but will definitely keep the key smooth.

Thank you. I have a bunch of different lubes in my garage, not sure if I have a teflon based one. Wondering if silicon lube would work, or other types. I don’t want to add to any future issues. My main issue would be dust and then maybe rain/water. I don’t do a lot of camping in freezing temps and even when I do, it’s frost, not snow, so not too worried about freezing. Thank you!

Just got my covers from @Buhlockaye (thanks for the speedy turnaround). I haven’t had a spare minute to tackle the swap from the GFC ones, but these already feel more pliable, but just as sturdy.

You’re gonna love them plus Blake stands behind his product. Easily the best mod to the GFC when I owned it.
