How to connect V2 Pro LED button panel to a portable solar panel

Psyched to have a new V2 Pro and had a great first night in it. The camper has LEDs factory installed and the LED button panel too. I see some wires coming out of the button panel, but they only have female ends. How would I connect that to a portable solar panel, and a panel with USB or USB-C ports? Our power needs will be minimal so we are hoping to be able to use portable solar or even just a charged power brick. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

it should have come with a cigarette 12v port cable, which will plug into a goal zero yeti battery. or you can order a “5521 to USB-C” adapter and plug directly into a power block. I have not found a USB adapter that fits the waterproof threads of the connector.

For my build I bought a 5521 adapter through ebay, see photo. This is the only place I could find the waterproof 5521 connector that GFC uses. You could also use any generic 5.5x2.1 connector but it would not be sealed or have the threaded collar to retain it. If you want plug and play, the cigarette lighter adapter cord that comes with the GFC is your best bet.

Hopefully I can be helpful, it if you could share anything by you may already have that you want to use/ level of skill it would help a lot with good guided information

I’m not near my truck so I can’t very but keep in mind that the led lighting may not support usb power ( again not sure, someone correct me)

if you have an existing usb power bank in mind, you may need to get a 12v to 5v converter

this was what I used to wire to an aux beam switch panel:
Waterproof 5521

I went down this rabbit hole when I got mine.

I found a cheap amazon 5521→usb-c adaptor and thought “cool, I can just plug this into my usb battery bank and run my lights” but that didn’t work out because the batter bank didn’t put out more than 5v.

But I have since looked into it and if you have a battery bank that supports PD power, such as one like:

Then you should be able to use the re-programmable PD compatible usb-c→5521 cable like this one:

or the fixed 12v version:

Sweet, thanks!

to be faaaaairrrr….

@Lancinho25 - I have not tried this - but in theory it should work. I have used Adafruit kits in the past and they are high quality, so should do the trick.

I got the harbor freight VIKING 1000 Peak Amp Multifunction Jump Starter and Power Pack with 150 PSI Air Compressor and it powered the lights for a almost a week. Granted I wasn’t charging my phone or anything else. I got it on sale for 69$.

Folks - the Adafruit USP type C 3.1 PD to 5.5 mm barrel jack cable, combined with a NiteCore NB20000 power bank, are working great to power the factory installed LEDs in my V2 Pro. Also got a NiteCore FSP 30 solar panel to charge the power bank, and it can charge and power at the same time. All good! Cheers.
