How to use extreme sealing tape

My roof has been having some leaking issues and I reached out to GFC. They sent me a roll of extreme sealing tape, but didn’t say how to install it. I just want to make sure I put it on correctly.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hey good afternoon Banjo. Thanks for reaching out to us. Apologies hat you didn’t receive the video instructions in your order. I am attaching a helpful video below this response to help you with the fix. The goal is to cover the seam between the extrusions and plascore roof with the tape sitting halfway on each, and not to stretch the tape too much during application. Starting with the crosswise seams, run all the way from outer edge to outer edge–beyond just the plascore roof, actually to the outer edge of the entire tent. Going completely edge to edge is probably the most important piece of this, as there is a very small rectangular hole that is usually the roof leak culprit, and that hole is right by the billet corner rather than at the extrusion-roof seam line. Then do the longways seams, fully overlapping the crosswise strips at each end. It is not necessary to tape past the crosswise strips along the length in either direction. When applying, make sure to work slowly and carefully, pressing to firmly adhere and remove all air bubbles as you go. Remove the plastic backer for each strip after application. I recommend a razor blade for all cutting of this stuff, but a good pair of sharp scissors is fine. That stuff is just ultra sticky. Let us know if you have any additional questions. Cheers!

Please post the brand and type of butyl tape, and a web link if you know it. There are SOOOO many variations, it is hard to figure out what is good and what is not.

Is this the same stuff used during the initial GFC installation to seal inside truck bed openings? If not, I would like info on that product also!!!

I have been using black T-Rex Waterproof Repair Tape with good results, it is easy to find at box and hardware stores, but it isn’t available in a long 1” roll.

Thanks.
