I am making a similar drive from Denver hopefully in mid-May. Curious what forest roads will be open for camping and all that.
I wired mine up with a SAE connnector before I left, and took the pigtail with me along with wire strippers and butt connectors (cleaned it up when I got home with solder and shrink tube). Was an easy couple minute job before leaving.

My install was Memorial Day weekend last year. Yellowstone was open and we stayed the first night in the park, West Yellowstone campground. It books up will in advance but a great place to stay.
Install experience was same as previously descried, in-and-out super easy. The install guys were all friendly and professional.
There was a different doggo there on my install. But very friendly.

The install crew was courteous and knowledgeable and didn’t mind me hovering asking loads of basic questions.
