Drip rails. I really like them and for the most part they solve the drip issue but if my truck is parked at certain angles the water builds up in the drip rail and then spills onto the back window. Still better than nothing. Much thanks to Josh. Has anyone else noticed this or just me?
@Rhinotaco I am not sure about clearance for most racks, but I do know it works with the Sherpa. I am happy to shoot you some measurements if you have some specific ones you need to check clearance.
@Kwood Glad they help at least some of the time. I am not sure if this can be solved, but I emailed you about maybe working on something. Appreciate the feedback!
Thanks Josh.
I am comparing the Animas D rack and the Martin OR rack that have been talked about a few times on the forum. The Animas can be purchased in different lengths but other GFC owners have the Martin camper rack and have spoken highly of it. I am not sure of the exact dimensions but there are a number of links on the forum. It doesnāt seem to appear on the website I may have to contact them. Thanks again for your time.

@Rhinotaco if you shoot Gage Martin (martin offroad) an email @ gtmartin284@gmail.com he will sort you out, we have had a couple of his racks for our vehicles / campers and he has always done us right.
I have the Martin OR rack and its great!
Thanks! I sent Gage an email. I appreciate the help.
Iāll second that. Gage is awesome and built his first tundra rack for me. It fit great and he was super easy to work with.
About a month ago I installed DripRails and since then I have noticed corrosion at the washers. Any recommendations on where to find proper fasteners with a heavy zinc coating to prevent galvanic corrosion?
Hey @docdave15 Sorry to hear that. I have had a few people reach out with some corrosion, and apparently the black oxide washers are not as good as advertised. Any 10-32 washer will work. My local ACE hardware has a great selection of stainless washers, but somewhere online like Grainger will have options too. The ones supplied are 0.09375 in thick with an OD of .5" That thickness may be hard to find but you can always double up a normal washer. If you have any issues finding things, or would like me to warranty them, shoot me an email at josh@jedf.us and I can find some and pop them in the mail for you.
Any news on this latest batch? Weāre actually getting some rain in California and Iām looking forward to themā¦lol
This week hopefully. Been promised that by the powdercoater, but he likes to break those promises.
Hi Josh
I live on a slant and am dealing with what @Kwood postedā¦any tips on remediation would be appreciated. Thanks
I havenāt come up with anything to help yet, but will keep you posted if I do.
I am also happy to give you a full refund since they are not working for you as well as Iād like them to.
Iām still waiting for my drip rails to arrive but this is a valid point. Iām thinking of using an offset/angled washer or something similar so the drip rails are angled slightly down at the inside edge. This should help the accumulating water run toward the center of the truck and the drip rails. Or a shim of some sort under the inside edge. Hope that makes senseā¦
Something like this under the two mounting bolts is what I was picturing. Theyāre called bevel or angle washers.
They are 16g steel so you may be able to bend them enough if you end up experiencing the same issues. The bevel washers would work too with some longer hardware. I never had this issue in my testing, but there are a lot of variables of course.
Hoping to get your order in the mail very early next week!
@jedgar - I recommend using zinc aluminum coated fasteners for corrosion protection. From the mcmaster entry:
Zinc-aluminum-coated steel screws are about five times as corrosion resistant as zinc yellow-chromate plated screws and have good resistance to salt water and acids. Also known as ultra coat and armor coat.
We use them in most exterior applications now (ours we have made in a black zinc aluminum but most off the shelf fasteners will be silver/galvanized appearance).
Cool let me know if you have any success. Back when I met up with @Mike_GFCUSA to get my hinges replaced he told me that he put a small bead of silicone in one of the tracks just behind the passenger door. So when the water runs along the track it hits the silicone bead and then falls off. Not a perfect solution but should reduce some water flow.
Itās always surprised me that @WileyDavis and team @GFC was not able to come up with their own solution or engineer a fix with version 2. I do believe the design that Josh came up with is the best solution to the drip issue. Personally I think gfc should have something like this as a permanent fixture on the camper. When itās raining hard itās as if someone has a hose turned on to your back window. Itās that bad.
