Joolca water heater

How did you mount it

Iā€™ve owned one for about 3 or 4 years now. Its great, and its pretty much the exact same thing as the camp lux so you have an option there. Customer support is pretty awesome.

I will say you, you have to REALLY be committed to taking showers in the woods while camping. It has to be high on the priority list because these things are not perfect. Iā€™ve had issues with mine at high elevations. They say it loses ability to heat at a certain rate every 1k feet about 5k IIRC. Hoses NEED to be tight or youā€™ll lose heat, lose water pressure etc. Sometimes the pilot will just go out. Especially in wind. Youā€™ll have to start and stop.

A lot of those things are somewhat obvious but they werenā€™t to me at the time so my expectation of having a simple on demand shower where ever I went had to come back to reality. Once I figured those things out its been pretty sweet! Setup time is a bit of a hassle tho so if you can mount it SETUP I could see it being much better.

I am using the geyser now as its MUCH easier to setup and pack away (if youā€™re going to pack away a shower and not have it permanently rigged). Not as luxurious as the joolca but weā€™ve moved that to our tiny camper so when we take that out we have the NICE shower.

Sorry for delayed responseā€¦been out in BFE. I have mine mounted on a molle panel in the GFC against the rear window side of my truck. Works fantastic that way.

Same here. I mounted it with the zip-up cover Iā€™d purchased with mine to keep dust out.

We love our Camplux camping water heater ! Itā€™s way better than cold showers at the lake. For weekend trips, itā€™s perfect. We set it up outside, and weā€™re good to go. Beats paying a fortune for a fancy built-in heater weā€™d rarely use.

How much water do you folks reserve for each camp shower? I recently picked up the Kakadu shower and it really uses a lot of water.

I have this 13 gallon tank set up with my joolca shower, and can adjust the water flow depending on how many showers/dishwashing sessions I plan on doing.

Also, I tend to keep it empty when traveling, then fill it up at a gas station nearest where Iā€™ll be camping to save weight.

The gas station suggestion is a good one. I definitely feel it when I add any extra weight to my little truck.

I do the same, I keep a jerry can for shower water, and will travel with it empty if i know there will be a water source to fill it up from at the destination. Otherwise Iā€™ll top it off at any spigot or tap I come across as i travel.

I did exactly this. Iā€™ll write more later, but I recommend it. Iā€™ll send pics soon.

Two adults + pup for 3 camp days- I fill a 50L tank for showers and two 20L Jerry cans for drinking waterā€¦ and my 10L hitch mounted water can. We just spent 3 days in Salida, BV, Poncha Pass area and used exactly all 100L.

Very interesting, thanks! so about 26 gallons, or three of those Dometic jugs.

Yeah, I should say we also started our trip 2 days earlier and used ā€œsomeā€ water to fill bike bottles. We rode every day in the high country, and ranā€¦ and I did have some tinkering/troubleshooting with the Joolca- so I probably wasted a bit of quality water. We live in the high desert & played at 10k-12k feet all weekend. Water is consumed. Iā€™d rather bring plenty and stay hydrated, vs being on high alert.

The magnetic holder sits nicely along the top rim of the shower cubicle/camper, sticks well enough to shower with no fuss.

Have the same set up! by magnetic holder, do you mean for the shower head?
Also, do you use the new shower pan that recycles the water? I just got one, but havenā€™t used it yet. was curious how it works

Thanks! Yes, the little magnetic shower head piece. It sticks to the Joolca shower stall, up high, so itā€™s out of the way. It also sticks to the truck, but sometimes slips (and I worry about scuffs) so I avoid that.

The stall has a wire to hang things from, up top as well. It also works fine. I like having the Propane and system close to the heater so when setting up I can just connect everything once, leave it for the weekendā€¦ less fuss to shower means more showers.

I have no experience with the new pan system, but it is intriguing. I think the filter just captures ā€œmostā€ of the dirt, soap and hair so the recycled water is ā€œmostlyā€ cleanā€¦ but I am not sure. It is nice to think that 5Gal is your entire weekend of shower water, but I am not sure how clean it can be after multiple cycles. Moreover, I am hesitant to add the pan bc itā€™s another thing to pack, take space, etc. Right now my solution for muddy feet during showers is a $27 pair of water shoes

I am looking forward to a separate pump/filter for POTABLE needs down the line, so you can fill up your tanks from the creek as you set up camp, refill on the fly, with no concern for illness. I think Joolca is working on it, given our customer survey last summer specifically related to water filtration systems. Cheers!

I recently ran into this portable self powered RO system, kind of interesting
ITEHIL reverse osmosis thingy

My buddy had a Joolca and liked it, while it worked. At right about a year it hat a temp/flow sensor or something go out on it ā€¦ Joolca does not offer parts and since it was just out of warranty they only offered a discount on a new unit. Kind of a spendy unit to not offer any form of service? ā€¦ and it used a lot of water.

I have mine mounted here too. Do you run yours mounted? Iā€™m worried that the upward vented hot air would cause the damage to the ceiling of the GFC. Thanks!
