Midges in Lower UP

Hey just got back from a fun trip to the Michigan Upper Peninsula and had to share this picture of all the bugs on the front of the camper. It’s been a cold spring so the non-biting midges are all out in force there now for breeding season.

Just go a little inland (or further north) and they’re not bad.

When I lived in Maine I remember my motorcycle helmet shield looking like that. Usually makes for some good fly fishing at least!

I remember a similar situation when I was living in Minnesota…except it involved me forgetting to put my helmet shield down. Lesson learned!
