Options to wire power for LED lights

Looking for opinions on what you think would be best way to wire her for the LED lighting package. I’m still waiting for delivery, however, have started thinking about power options. I keep my fridge and power station in the cab)

  1. Buy separate powerbank 250whr for bed.
  2. Wire cable to cab from bed and plug into power station
  3. Run always hot from my starter battery to the bed.

run a secondary battery. i’d go with a 100ah LiFEPO4 with a DC-DC charger so in addition to your camper lighting you can also run diesel heater and run your laptop (if your laptop supports USB-C Charging) as well as starlink (if you have the 12v conversion done)

I would go with option 2 or 3. I have a Dometic plug that is in the bed of my truck and it is always hot. My lights are plugged into it all the time. I also have a Dometic battery and fridge. I only bring the battery when I plan on staying in the same spot for more than one day. I have a light bar on each side panel and one on the rear panel.

Keep in mind you’ll also have to wire the third brake light wiring, so plan ahead for that, too.

Thanks, I’ve had the camper for a while now so brake light is already wired. Just purchased some of the new add ons.

Do you run hot from your starter battery? Or have a secondary auxiliary battery in the engine bay?

Yes starter battery. I do not have a secondary battery hooked to the truck only a portable dometic plb40.

See my setup. Hardwired the lights into my system. Pretty sweet. Can control it from my Garmin Powerswitch.

I have a Maverick and direct wired a 4 station 12v marine grade charger socket panel to the truck and then plug in the lights. When asleep i have an old cheap Dewalt car charger and have the lights plugged into that. In the the morning i have plenty of juice on the Dewalt but still plug everything in while on the road just to keep things topp topped off. I also keep a fridge and Ecoflow in the cab.

Hope this helps.
