HI All….I have the V2 Max on a 6.4 FT Ram 1500 Big Horn. I’m looking into an awning purchase and I settled on the OVS 270 awning (LINK: HD Nomadic Awning 270 Degree Awning - Driver Side) due to price and a few other factors. I know I need 4 GFC brackets to install, but I have the following questions:
Anyone have experience with OVS awnings? Yay or nay?
2. All of the install pictures from OVS show the awning installed on crossbars, anyone have experience installing with the GFC brackets? Just want to make sure they are compatible and am having trouble getting a straight answer from both companies.
I have one on my DCLB tacoma, love it. Used 4 GFC universal mounts, fits perfectly. Go to home depot and buy shorter bolts, pretty tight between the mounts and the GFC.
I used 2x GFC brackets on my DCSB taco. Works fine but always wanted to add a 3rd. I second the shorter bolts, and ratcheting wrenches! That will save some cursing later. Also, rear and side panel don’t swing open 100% with the awning open, maybe 85-90%. I put some gorilla tape on the awning arms where the panels make contact to save some wear and tear.
I was able to get my OVS 270 mounted this weekend….I used 4 GFC mounting brackets. Seems stable, but tightening the bolts was not easy. Thanks for the help.
