Is the gfc mounted to an aluminum box on top of the bed rails? Curious as to why? More height? Did GFC extend the rear door to cover the gap for you?
Same question. It looks like 2x4’s that have been painted.
Maybe needed the height to accommodate the roof reack?
Back at the farm this weekend. Blackberries are unfortunately not yet ripe. Good news is I didn’t miss them.

I saw a thread where someone built spacers to fit a 2nd/3rd gen camper onto a 4th gen. The cab height is taller.

Funny you should ask.. I actually bought this GFC which was originally created for a Chevy Colorado 5ft bed. After doing some research it was very close in dimensions, angles, taper.. everything was less than .5" and a few degrees of the 4th generation Tacoma. I worked with a metal fabrication shop to create a welded heavy duty aluminum “U Frame” -to clear the roof rack and securely attach the camper to the Tacoma frame rails (this entailed purchasing the Tacoma t-slot hardware- otherwise everything is the same). It is the same aluminum spec used for Rossmonster overland rigs and will stand up to anything.
It’s extremely secure and adds a little bit of head room in the lower topper area enough to sit up comfortably. It also clears the roof rack with adequate room for the bed flex as well.
But to answer your question the back window door closes perfectly along with the tailgate, I typically run a Tailgate pad for my bikes so the little bit of clearance works pretty well for my setup. I may try to add a small piece of aluminum eventually once I get into some winter camping out here in Colorado and Montana. Cheers

Night 11, dispersed camping just outside Madras, OR. This trip was for going to the PNW Overlanding Expo. We went there on Saturday, won a Dometic CX2 45L from Dometic so, was well worth it.
