Looking for some help and ideas on adding solar panels to a V2 Pro that is mounted on a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. I have a Bluetti Elite 200 V2 that I am trying to keep charged. It is running an older Dometic fridge and a Starlink Mini right now.
Yeah I know I might have to drill holes in my hardtop to pass wires through the hardtop.
Hey Ray! Based on your needs, I would recommend running around 100-200watts of panels for your setup. I’ve run similar setups with a single 100watt panel and never had any issues when I was mostly in Colorado and Utah, but being up in Montana, I would probably feel better with a 200watt panel to account for less intense sun conditions.
We carry a Solar Panel Mounting Kit that attaches rigid/framed solar panels to our beef bars, or you can mount a flexible panel directly to your roof as we do on our Max campers as a factory option. This decision completely comes down to preference, cost, total rig height, aesthetics, and if you need the flexibility to accommodate for other roof mounted accessories. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Joe,
I want to run 200w flexible solar panels in parallel. I was just looking for what others have done and where they passed the wires through the hardtop. There isn’t many low profile roof glands that will fit between the bottom of the tent and the hardtop
Ah, I gotcha. The clearance between the RTT and top is definitely tight with our direct mounts. I would probably run some sort of pass through that uses a DT plug on the exterior of the top. You could then terminate the solar panel leads with a DT connector that would plug into the pass through. This would probably be your lowest profile option, in my mind. It would also allow you to remove the entire RTT and solar setup without cutting wires or leaving a hole in your top.
Joe,
Thank you for the idea!
I found a roof glade last night made by scanstrut that are just under 1" that may also work. I have some more research to do and miyay but both options and see which one is going to fit best and where.
