I’m looking for the best way to install and load surfboards and other gear onto the beef racks. I’ve seen plenty of media—on GFC’s website, Instagram, and even from Graeme himself—showing people standing on top of their campers to mount equipment.
However, after browsing this forum, I’ve seen some mention that it isn’t safe to do so. That’s a bit confusing since it’s advertised as possible.
I want to take good care of my GFC, but I also don’t want to be overly cautious if it’s designed to handle this. Standing on top to mount my surfboards would make things a lot easier. Any clarification or advice?
I wonder if having a full width/length roof rack would help distribute the weight better. Anyone know one that fits on a GFC? Something like this SHELL RACK (2005-2023 TACOMA) – Martin Off-Road
LOL, none of those four promotional pics show a ladder. How did they get on there? Helicopter? Nobody over 50 could do that.
It is a serious slip and fall hazard when wet, the surface is slick. I would use a folding ladder or a Werner 20” work platform, very sturdy and inexpensive when on sale. It is also excellent for washing or waxing your vehicles and makes a fine camp bench or low table. It stores nicely sideways at the back of the cargo bed on my 24 Ranger Raptor.
“Thanks for your patience while I checked in with the team on this!
The general consensus is that you can stand and walk on the roof of the V2 Pro Camper, but jumping on it is not recommended . If you do decide to stand or walk on it, just be mindful that any damage resulting from this wouldn’t be covered under warranty.
If you have Beef Rack Crossbars , we strongly recommend standing on those instead, as they provide better support.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
