Hello, I have a Tacoma 2022 and my leaf springs are finally clapped. Last year I grabbed some sumo spring non adjustable air bags to take some sag off for a temporary fix and now in need of an upgrade. I’m definitely into getting a 2inch lift but no need to do it right away. What are people using? I have an additional 300 pounds in the summer but less in the winter. Also curious about airbags. Let me know what you got!
I’ve got a 2-2.5” lift with a Deaver U402 stage 2 leaf set. My truck carries my camper, bike rack, full size spare, and a tool box daily; it only gets loaded up for trips. Rides great.
I used Accutune Off-road to build a mid-travel setup that was perfect for my needs. I recommend them to everyone that asks about my suspension.
Depends on budget and planned use. Are you a go fast dirt road bomber? Different setup than what my grandpa style driving needs. Accutune was on my list too - they weigh the truck and tune accordingly for your driving style and weight.
I also started with the Sumo blues. My camping gear for a 4 day late fall/winter loadout weighs 266 lbs (water excluded). Add the GFC at 275. Was always sitting on the Sumos. Without gear I had ~3/8” travel to the Sumos. Felt like driving one of those clapped out spring cut civics with the folgers can on the exhaust - bouncing off the stops.
My requirements were: #1 - Had to fit in the garage, so 1”-1.5” max. Didn’t want to loose droop, again 1" max, wanted some rake when empty, almost level when loaded. Mine is a manual, and I don’t want to regear, so 33” tires are out - also see #1. I don’t enjoy rock crawling, I mostly drive USFS roads since this is my camping rig. Watched the WheelEveryWeekend/Overland Outfitters Shock Value series.
Those were my “use case” requirements. I super wanted the All Dogs OffRoad parabolic springs, but the lift was too much. Went with Ikon RXT Stage 1, 5100’s all four corners, Perry Parts bumpstops front, kept the Sumo blues as bumpstops in back (they are super plush). So much better ride on and off road and no loss of manners. Still have my front sway bar.
My 2019 Tacoma (blue) and a friend (2018 Tacoma). He’s on 315 70 17, 2+” and 5.29s - through the rocks that thing rides like a dream.
Mine did Fixit Pass, flex was good, required full trust in my spotter, no body damage, just street cred on the sliders (aluminum).
I guess determine your use case and budget, then decide the equipment and fashion the tool for your desires.
So I won’t necessarily be rock crawling just dirt roads that can get a bumpy and rocky. My truck loaded is an additional 300 pounds with my bike racks, bikes water and equipment. It’s not all season weight though. I take off my bike stuff and camp stuff .not looking to break the bank but am fine spending Maybe ip to 3,000 max. I always like middle grade stuff and not going cheap on stuff forsure. I found this and then figured I’d need to do something to level out the front. https://www.jackit.com/ome-el111r-001.html?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=8909931792&gbraid=0AAAAAD_WDWvBQsyv9mQ4IvhrMjp5oUVVT&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzaXFBhDlARIsAFPv-u9RsVrhl1WB8BD1jvBwrazjeUv_vBlyZbnBVPkZVjGgc9Zb2QKg4IYaAvipEALw_wcB
I’ve had the same sumo springs that are blue but yes looks like my springs are clapped forsure.
Archive Garage has some items that might be up your alley. Look them up.
