Hey guys! Looking for someone who has bought a V2 camper built for a 3rd Gen and put it on their 2nd gen Tacoma. I have heard that’s it’s compatible if you switch out the rear panel. I reached out to GFC and according to them they are functionally compatible but the fit is not seemless. Needless to say I am curious to if anyone has actually done this and what their thoughts are on the overall fit. Cheers!
Not exactly your situation, but I transferred my v2 camper that was built for a 2nd gen to a 3rd gen earlier this year without issue. I did work with GFC to replace the rear panel and everything is a great fit.
I have a friend that did this. It is functional. He opted to not get a replacement panel and closed up the extra gap over the tailgate with some weatherstripping. If you plan to do a full buildout, I wouldn’t recommend it due to waterproofness, but if you’re just clapping it on a truck it does fine.

Love it! Was it difficult to swap out the rear panel??
Hmmmm very interesting. You think you could try to get some detailed pics from him to upload??
Curious to see how it actually fits and what he did with the rear panel gap. Has the only weatherproofing issue been at the rear panel??
thanks for all the info ![]()
I have a V2 Pro meant for a 3rd Gen on my 2nd Gen and it works. The gasket/seal on the back hatch panel needs to be modified but otherwise no issues.
