Tent strut squeaking loudly

Hi all,

I’ve got a fairly new V2 Pro that squeaks loud as shit when closing the tent. Anyone had this issue? If so, how to correct? Lube the strut with some lithium grease or something? It does not make any noise when going up.

Thanks!

Yes I’m wondering the same thing! Loud creaking when closing

Same here. Sounds like a dying bird. I haven’t had a chance to bring this up to GFC since I’ve spent the last few months trying to sort out all the bigger issues. I don’t think GFC support is willing to help me anymore so if anyone has a fix let me know.

I’m having the same issues on a new V2 Pro installed mid March.

20 nights in it since then; nearly all in the desert / dry / windy / dusty conditions. Extremely loud sqeak in what appears to be the driver side strut when it gets near to closing.

Need to contact GFC about this too…

Check that the gas strut is properly mounted/ tightened, as additional motion and a slightly different angle can be enough to cause piston noise in one direction

In general, for a sealed strut/shock you DO NOT want to be greasing/ lubricating the exposed part of the piston as that will just pick up additional dust and cause the sealed portion to become more susceptible to contamination.

Best prevention is to get into the habit of wiping down the rod with a non-marking cloth.

I’ll reach out to GFC. This doesn’t seem right.

Anyone have an update on this? I have brand new V2 Pro that makes a terribly loud squeak/squeal from what I believe is the driver side strut.

I’ll reach out as well.

I might try some stanchion lube and see if it helps out. Shouldn’t be an issue as this is what they use on MTB forks and dropper posts that are subject to dust all the time. Just give it a wipe every now and then.

I think we really need to start a grassroots effort and convince GFC to give us some struts with that sweet sweet golden Kashima Coat

I was told by GFC support to put a dry silicone lubricant on the shaft. It is an issue with some batch of struts apparently.
