We camped feet away from there on Tuesday night. Spencer Flats is such a great area.

Yeah it is! We visited the a few years ago and finally got back this weekend. We did Willis Creek and Lower Calf Creek hikes. Both excellent.

great spot on Spencer Flat road. I camp there often!

Yeah it was great. I was shocked at how many people were out there the last time I was there though. I want to keep Grand-Staircase on the DL. There was talk a few years ago (when the administration was in the process of cutting the size of the monument) to turn it into a National Park, which I think would be a tragedy. It would draw so many more people. The reason I love that place is the solitude.

Ya I agree. I was there 2 weeks ago and had to go to my emergency camp spot through the Sand dunes because everything was full. Good thing Vans and Subarus can drive through Sand! I am from Utah and it sucks to see the word is out about all the these places. The Capital Reef to Escalante area is my favorite. I really hope they dont make it a National Park. We have enough Parks already here. I have been camping on 50 mile bench a lot this year. Nobody is up there, for now…

Oooh yeah. That is a good idea. We drove there there once but didn’t camp. It was rough driving. I’m from Flagstaff and we are up in Southern Utah a couple of times a year. I am glad people are outside, but at some point it becomes unsustainable. We stopped going to Zion because it was like Disneyland.

If you are coming up from Flagstaff I got some sweet roads for you! My favorite road in Utah is from Big water to Escalante.

Awesome! Can you send me some road numbers or GPS tracks for me??:crossed_fingers:
I need some lower elevation stuff for the winter, this would probably be good.
