Looking back to November camping trips on a couple different weekends in the same spot.
Fun road up to the edge, to look over the Grand Valley below. https://goo.gl/maps/SGtg8GnvroWoZFyY8

My camper is 971. It was complete in early November, but because I live in the East Coast, I wasn’t able to pick it up as soon as I would have liked to.

What part of the East Coast are you from Im in Maryland.

@oddball @crazyfingers did you consider Snap! Outfitters Treehouse out of PA instead of GFC? I’m just curious. it was a toss up for me then Snap jacked up their price and then it was a no brainer

@blackhearse do you know how much snap treehouse currently cost?

It was a toss up between Snap treehouse and GFC. Snap because less lead time and only 8 hour drive. GFC for obvious reasons everybody knows. the day I went buy either 1(really was going to be a coin flip) they had raised the price to $10,500. since then they have stopped selling. It was a side gig for the gentleman making them so grain of salt for Covid excuses. they literally priced themselves out for me

Looking to do 8020 here as well, which brackets did you get to mount to the side of the extrusion? Did they fit the spacing right?

Also, how did you end up mounting the solar panels? Would you do anything differently now?

Trying to order all the parts I need so when I go pick up the gfc in a few months I can hook up power and immediately go on a remote work trip

I used these plates. The top set of holes line up perfectly with the holes in the end of the 8020. https://8020.net/4519.html
I used the z brackets that came with my solar panel kit and bolted to the bottom of the 8020. Then bolted the other side of the bracket to the bottom of the solar panels. The top of the solar panels sit at least 1/2" below the top of the 8020 so if i slide a ladder or kayak along the top of the 8020 rack it never touches the top of the solar panel. I’m happy with the setup. image

Perfect, exactly what I needed. Thank you!

If you were to do it differently, what bracket would you have used? I took a look through all of the 10 series external fasteners and none of the ones that you could use 4 bolts have 7/8 spacing vertically between the bolts.

Has your setup been solid so far?

I’d just get a blank bracket and drill the holes myself. They’ve been solid but all I have up there is a solar panel and occasionally a couple pairs of skis.

Curious how that 1up rack is working for you? Like you, I have an aftermarket bumper with the receiver behind the license plate. I just purchased a 1up rack, and am planning to modify my bumper with a lower receiver, so the tailgate doesn’t hit the rack when lowered.

Do you have that problem? Do you have to take your rack off before dropping the tailgate? Curious to hear if you’ve come up with any creative solutions. Thanks!

Swapped my GFC over from my 1st gen to my 2nd gen. Build in progress.

Hey Mattyd, I have the same body Silverado and looking at a GFC & decked system, curious as to how much vertical clearance you have from top of decked system to underside of GFC bed platform. I appreciate the info in advance.

Total clearance is 32”. From the top of the Decked platform to the bottom of the cushion.
