Three nights in the UP, bugs and rain and it performed great!

what is your set up for the back awning portion? (making the tent material stick out like that)

Thanks!

It’s the ShittCo awning bracket kit with some ARB tent poles. It held up nicely keeping rain out but allowing ventilation

@d.shaw, so you have a Drifter now and your girlfriend has your GFC? That’s pretty cool. Probably the only couple to have separate Rigs and badass campers

yes in a weird twist of fate, we started looking for a gfc for her, found a drifter, and here we are. just finished a 12 day two truck two kids and us trip. was super fun - and one reason we started looking for another camper…

Which is better? What are the advantages and disadvantages of the drifter? We all have our ideas about the GFC.

Peace.

That looks like a great setup for y’all. We only have one kiddo but he’s about the same age as yours. If you didn’t have both would he just sleep out in another tent or would y’all pack inside one of your rigs?

I ask because I’m considering getting the new Superlite to augment my wife’s Forrester. I picked up my GFC in June, and with the three of us, it’s only going to get tighter.

Just curious,

we have slept three in either camper, its easier with the small 8 yr old, but for a few days it hasnt been a problem with three -

We just became a family of 4 - the 5 month old joining the 11 year old dog - and we’ve slept quite a few nights already just in the GFC. My wife and son sleep “upstairs” and the dog and I share the “downstairs”.

I built a sleeping platform on one side. It is a bit of prototype but is working very well. 2x10 down the middle is attached to the front bedrail with a steel strap. On the outboard side I have aluminum brackets holding a piece of angle aluminum. And 1/2" plywood rests on that. It is very comfortable, makes for some nice storage that can be opened by lifting the plywood, and it is easy to remove. Eventually I may upgrade the 2x10 to 8020 extrusion and replace the 1/2" plywood with a composite top.

This isn’t the best picture but it will give a sense for it.
