I need some extra storage for maxxtrax and camping gear (chairs, small CLAM shelter) for long road trips, but it needs to be quick detach (no or minimal tools) and not too heavy. I want to keep down the wind resistance and top heaviness by removing it when not needed, especially in winter (to avoid deicer corrosion). Does anyone know if this Medium Yakima Offgrid will work with its strap clamps?

Any other choices for me to consider? I really do NOT want a permanent rack, nor do I want a plastic cargo pod; it does need to be stout enough to take high speed ranch roads (washboard).
I emailed GFC about this but have not yet received a reply.
