V2 Max has been ordered!

So after months of looking into the Project M, Tune M1, and the Max, i’ve made the decision to join the GFC family again. What can I say, I miss that darn camper.

Who here has the Max? Post up some pics and mods you’ve done!

Here is my Max thread. Still tinkering too.

When I had my V2, I have a ‘19 Tacoma. I ended up selling it and buying a van that I built out. As awesome as the van was, I missed my Tacoma. The van was just way too bougie and took the fun out of camping, lol. So I sold the van and got a ‘23 Tacoma Trail.

Are you going to do a new build thread? I really enjoyed your last one

Oh I am sure! I just need to figure the layout of this new one. I will have the same type of drawer, so I just need to figure the build off of that. Maybe some kind of shelving system for my FrontRunner packs? Maybe a sink? Who knows lol

I’ll be picking up my V2 Max in Manhattan, MT, in just over a month. It will be going on my 2019 Tacoma (access cab). I’m getting the 200w solar panel (installed by GFC). I’ll post here after I pick it up and start making it “mine” (or “ours”, as my wife will correctly insist).

And congrats on the order!

Ordered mine last weekend, but it won’t be installed until August. It took me about 4-5 days to transfer funds to make the purchase and the install date went from ~6/25 to 8/04  Gonna miss out on most of this summer :sob: :sob: :sob:

The same exact thing happened to me! Last Wed/Thurs the lead time was July 9th. I checked it on Friday morning and it was July 23rd. I freaked out and went deposit some cash and moved some money from savings to my checking. That Friday afternoon I went to order and the new lead time was Aug 3rd. But I couldnt purchase because my own money was “pending” going into my account. Ended up clearing Saturday morning and was able to get the Aug 3rd lead time, and set up my install on Aug 4th.

Such a bummer! Especially just floating $11K off into the ether for 5+ months… :face_exhaling:

On the bright side, demand for niche products only gets that high when there is some serious value behind it! Gonna use the lead time to try and build out some other things, I guess…that and pray for an earlier spot to open up lol.

I read some where that GFC won’’t install the solar, but instead mail it to you. Has that changed? I didnt order solar because of that reason. But if they would install it and have it on there ready for when the camper is picked up, I would have gotten it

Congrats! It’s a great camper. Got ours in January.

GFC isn’t taking anyone’s money. They are good people. Talk to them on the regular. I’ve had five campers. Nothing to worry about. :call_me_hand:t3::united_states:

Good to hear – they seem like good people. I wasn’t implying that I’m worried about that.

The solar install likely just consists of applying tape then laying the panel down on the roof. They might also solder/crimp mc4 connectors to two of the Deutsch connector wires, but I’m pretty sure you’d still have to solder/crimp your own XT60 cable (or what ever you’re using to interface with your charge controller/battery).

The solar panel options are a bit confusing. The GFC website says they’ll be shipped, but this is what I got from GFC on 22 Jan 2026:

“Since you’re picking up your MAX in Manhattan and your camper has not yet gone into production, your solar panel will be installed by GFC prior to pickup. We’re expecting the solar panels to arrive soon, and once they do, they’ll be released into production. With your April install timing, your camper will have solar installed and ready to go when you arrive.”

Details: I ordered my MAX on 03 Dec 2025 and scheduled my build in Manhattan on 20 Jan 2026 for the build to happen the first full week of April 2026.

If in doubt, reach out to GFC.

I hope this helps!
