I want a Pro tent for my V2 but have held off because it doesn’t seem like they’re actually producing them yet. Well, that plus you can’t order them right now. But it would be really nice to have
I met Thomas at Overland Expo SoCal last weekend. And talked to him at length about what happened with the V2 rollout, and where things are. I have to say I appreciate his candor. He admits that GFC didn’t communicate well and managed everything poorly. With that, he rejoined the company to help resolve these things. An example of that are the weekly emails that are going on.
I too bought a V2 upgrade, and really had hoped to have it before our Baja trip next weekend. We talked for a half hour or so about the struggles they have had with ramping up production. They tried somethings, weren’t happy with the quality and had to change course. You’re going to see this with any smaller company like this.
I’m hoping they will increase the transparency and they are trending that direction. So, I’ll say I’m hopeful but waiting to see.
Thomas is a good dude. Helped me a lot back in the day.
Thomas is the man. He will always help you to the fullest, and always be pleasant while doing so. Dude has helped me out so much, over the years.
Anyone have the QR install guide? I threw mine away accidentally and getting ready to install the midsize tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure the alignment of the long strips.
My install was Jan. 9 and I got my headliner kit a few days ago . I opened the QR code link and it just took me to the Headliner upgrade kit page on the GFC website, no instructions. I’ve done online searches and can’t find any headliner install manual or instruction from GFC. There is a thread on this forum from a guy who posted a photo using white tape - see " Installed the GFC headliner in my V2 Pro" The white velcro tape is hard to make out against the white camper roof but you can kind of see it. Cheers.
Thanks. I could have sworn the box came with either a QR code or instructions. I remember a chart laying down the tape measurements and where to lay them.
Not a big deal I don’t think to get it perfect. Thanks.
I got a QR code linked to an order page but no dimensions on where to put the tape. Sorry.
I just tracked down the QR code that came with mine.
I did read instructions when I received it - they were linked on the order page I believe.
That link is now gone.
Perhaps send them an email - the link may have been dropped when they did that website upgrade recently.
Cheers
email sent, thanks.
That was my install. There used to be a link to instructions but I can’t find it. Here’s the short version:
- Install one of the 48" strips of velcro at the top edge of the tent.
- Put up the first piece of headliner and mark its lower edge. I used a pencil for this.
- Install the second 48" strip of velcro so that half is holding up the first piece of headliner and half for the second headliner. Your pencil line should go down the middle of your velcro strip.
- Install the second headliner panel and mark its lower edge with a pencil.
- Install the third 48" strip of velco such that half is for the second panel and half for the third panel.
- Install the fourth 48" strip of velcro at the lower edge of the roof panel
- The shorter strips go vertically in between the horizontal 48" strips. One at each edge of the panel and then the other two (for regular campers) evenly spaced in between.
Done
Colin at GFC just replied to me.
Here is the direct link to the instructions:
They are working on fixing it on the website.
Cheers.

- The GFC Team
I’m trying to figure out if this means we’ll get our tents (v2 upgrade customers - standard tent) in Early April. I kinda doubt it.
I agree. Is this basically saying they will get material in april and we have to wait a month before its turned into a tent and then shipped? + any other logistical thing that could delay like being able to have this done at a shop.
That’s a good question. @GFC can you clarify whether the tents or the materials will arrive in April so that expectations are set clearly?
I’ve had my lighting kit and headliner for months but I haven’t tried to install them yet because I don’t want to potentially interfere with the tent upgrade installation.
I assume that they won’t interfere with the new tent but can someone confirm that?
Thanks!
Just to clarify, are you saying you were able to get a headliner months ago for a V2 and have been waiting on the V2 Pro tent upgrade? I’m curious how you were able to get a headliner when tons of us that ordered a V2 Pro a year ago never got one.
It won’t interfere at all.
