Installed the GFC headliner in my V2 Pro

GFC V2 Pro installed August 1st at Apex in North Carolina. Got the headliner mailed to me mid October. Finally got around to installing it. I left the velcro strips in place on the panels and just peeled off the backing and stuck them on the roof. The fit is really good. I did wind up with a little gap here and there, but plan to move them around a bit and smooth them out after the tape sets up in a few days. I ran a plastic roller over all the panels to help the tape adhere. Wish me luck on peeling the panel from the velcro strip without pulling the tape off the ceiling.

How’s it holding up?

Finally got and installed mine. Looks great when in seems to be nice quality. Fit is pretty good. My only concern is the esthetics of the velcro strips on the ceiling panel when the headliner is removed. Just not the most pleasant thing to look at and for that i have a fealing ill just leave the headliner in most of the time maybe remove the top panel during summer.

I am assuming the velcro is black? I was planning to buy white velcro and replace the stock black before installing mine (when it arrives)… because like you, I didn’t want to look up at black strips on the roof in the summer (and kinda assume I am only going to run the headliner in the fall/winter)

Correct it’s black velcro. I’ll prob keep at least 2/3 panels up in summer just for the light intrusion help. I dont mind getting up early but 4:45-5am sunrise is a bit too early lol

Can anyone tell me what Velcro GFC sends with the kit? I want to get white on the way home and forgot to look in the box to see what they send with the kit

it depends on the size of your camper.

Standard size here. What I’m asking is what is the width of the strips? Velcro comes in 3 or 4 different widths from 1/2" to 4" that I’ve seen

Its 2" wide. Id be mostly concerned with ensuring its high quality (like 3m) adhesive.

Perfect, thank you!

Hey, if you go the white velcro route, I’d love to see a pic of what it looks like with a panel removed.

I will do so. I’m going to pull the Velcro from the kit tomorrow morning to verify what I need, order it, and then install the headliner next weekend

The main thing I’ve found in SoCal is that some varieties of velcro have a high-temp adhesive - but most don’t. Since this is going on the roof, effectively, be sure you get the high temp stuff.

Last summer I put a bunch of velcrom from amazon in my GFC (supposedly 3M) and all the adhesive melted into goo. I think I got my replacement velcro from McMaster Carr, but it wasn’t cheap.

I was going to get 3M Industrial Strength Velcro from Ace Hardware, thanks for the heads up! I’ll make sure it’s the good stuff

First nights out with the headliner. Overnight lows in the desert 37 and 24 degrees. This time of year in the desert that usually equals lots of condensation. Headliner def worked no condensation build up in the morning not running a heater just my @AERONAUT and a sherpa lined flannel blanket down by my feet

I installed my headliner today. I got some industrial white Velcro from McMaster-Carr. 3 rolls of 15’ each were just barely enough. I may get another roll and make three more strips to add one more in the middle of each panel.

And with the headliner installed. I shifted it a little after I took this picture since I saw the gaps. I’m going to need to redo my LED lights in the tent for the third time since they’re now hidden by the headliner.

The white delivered on what I was hoping to achieve… glad I thought of it

Did you use 2" wide? Or wider? Maybe if you have a link to what you used from McMaster? I was planning to use this: Velcro @ Ace

I did use 2" wide. I got 3 rolls of 15’ each, but subsequently bought a 4th roll to add another strip down the middle for each panel. Here’s a link to the McMaster hook I bought: LINK In case the link acts up, the SKU is 94985K24. Overall, I am very happy with how it worked out

Edit: Wanted to add, I was going to use the Ace stuff you linked but after some feedback from @Vice_Chief I went with the McMaster stuff since it’s billed as Super-Adhesive and good up to 120° I believe he may have found some stuff that is even higher temp rated

Headliner folks, I have a question.
I’ve bought some poly outdoor carpet and the good 3m adhesive and I’m ready to DIY.
However, the factory headliner is removable via the velcro. What do you all think, is there a compelling reason to remove the headliner based on conditions, or will you just leave it in all the time?
