Ugh. I filled out my Service Request Form this weekend for my V2 locks as they officially failed. Build 1308. Family camp trip to Norcal for Mother’s Day weekend. Had to stop in downtown San Francisco and was in a sketchy area. I had a feeling in my gut telling me to not lock the tent as I hadn’t locked it in a while, despite blasting it with T9 regularly.
Upon trying to unlock it, the driver’s side pin would not open. Went to the hardware store to pick up some more t9 and worked on it with repeated sprays/key turning to no avail. Had to cut the trip early and did not get to camp. Got home and spent Sunday randomly working in T9 and using the key still to no avail. Finally this morning before work it popped up. Obviously not going to use the locks anymore.
Looking forward to replacing with the new pins. @GFC_Support
I’m thinking I might try a small piece of gaff tape or a sticker to cover both sides of the lock after I push it in to protect it from dirt and water.
It would just require peeling off to use the lock…
Hoping to get a few more miles out of mine
Ordering these covers. I’ll keep y’all posted. Does anyone know the cylinder specs for the cam locks? Abloy has some outdoor that will release the key when unlocked. All their hardware is case hardened and weather resistant.
McMaster has a twist-lock spring pin option that might also work. Pull the knob and twist to keep it in the open position. Twist back to spring the pin closed. Spring Pins, Twist-Lock, 10-32 Thread, 1 to 3.5 lb. Force
