Window Awning Prop kits

I was just curious if anyone had some insight into how worthwhile the window prop kits were or not. It seems like in light rain or in some hot sun they could be nice to still be opened up and protected, but before investing in some, I figured I would ask and get some real world perspective. Any thoughts?

In my opinion, I prefer the windows propped open rather than the flaps rolled up all the time.

I’ve had mine for 2 years. Haven’t used them. I have friends that set them up as soon as we are in camp. I just don’t spend much time upstairs that isn’t sleeping.

I’m in the desert southwest, so don’t do much rain camping. I have a Moon shade to setup if it’s extra sunny or some rain, and my REI Flexlight chair allows me to sit in the back of the truck if there is a bit of rain.

If it was warm overnight, I can see the advantage to not rolling up the flaps as jabironman mentioned above, but so far haven’t needed it since I can always go to a higher elevation if it’s hot at lower - or I just don’t camp when it’s hot.

I have them but got them as part of the Launch Edition MAX. I only just got my camper but, I used them for drying out the tent after our second night (lots of frost) and they work great for that. I found that if I only rolled up the flap, it retained the water inside the rolled up section but with the kit, everything dries out. However, in my opinion, its a bit pricey as a seperate kit for what you get.

I got the Shittco ones when I got my GFC and I use them almost ever time I camp. The only time I don’t use them is when I camp in a more-crowded campground where I need privacy

Just received my V2 Max, and they were included with the launch edition extras. I haven’t set up the tent for a “real trip” yet, just a weekend outing in my in-laws driveway to avoid sleeping on a couch or hotel - GFC was way better of course - so I didn’t use the prop rods.

However, I did replace a RTT with the GFC, and I used the prop rods all the time. They’re crucial in the southeast US IMHO - shade, airflow, rain protection, drying…

Yeah, I think I’d use them for shade but preserving air flow, as well as a light rain, but I agree that for a separate kit, seems a little pricey. I really appreciate all the feedback!
