Has anyone installed a Yakima OverNout 270 awning on the GFC? I can’t seem to find much info or any pictures on a GFC. It has a bit less coverage sq footage wise than some of the others but is also a bit lighter. @babyyota Thank you for responding. After reading more about the majiorshady I connected the dots that they are basically the same just newer model/name. 3 follow up questions. Did you use the GFC awning brackets or some other solution, or did whatever came with it work for mounting? Can you provide detail on the lower struts comment. Is this just so the panel does not open to high and hit the awning? Last question ….do you feel like the coverage is all you want/need? They now have an XL version which is what got me looking at it. I am all about buy once cry once for the right thing, but hard to pass a good deal and the standard overnout same size as the majiorshady is significantly discounted right now. Trying to weigh the cost vs the larger coverage and unsure if I won’t regret not getting the XL in the end.would appreciate your thoughts.
Hey sorry for the late response. I’ve attached a picture for you to see the overall coverage. Am I happy with the coverage? Yes and no. If the sun is in a good spot, you get good coverage, if not, you get skinny coverage. However what I appreciate is the low weight compared to something like the Alu-Cab and small campsites where you can still deploy and not hit trees.
Yes, struts lower the popout doors, so it does not open so far up and potentiall may rip the awning (however I think there is a very low chance of that so I don’t even think it’s all that needed). I just replaced my struts because of the otherside I mount maxtrax and needed the extra weight support.
I also used (3) mounting brackets and do suggest going with (3).
