9mm pistol storage inside tent

I’m late to the party. I have the Max editiion so a bit more space but, I use a pouch similar to @Holden-Caulfield provided the link to. I put it at the back corner edge close to my head. I do not keep it loaded but do have ready to go clips that are also in the pouch. I leave it in the same position so I know where the zipper is and can remove it and chamber very quickly. Mine is a .45 as I grew up in Alaska around big four legged creatures.

I got a Vaultek Lifepod 2.0 (biometric) that I get either my 10mm or .357 in. I keep it in the bulkhead (by my head where I sleep) so I can access it easy if need be. It is my wife and toddler (she sleeps at our feet), so having it loaded but locked is crucial. Also since it’s biometric and I keep it in the same spot, it’s real easy to quickly unlock and get access to.

If I was just going out by myself, I’d keep it in the velcro pouch

This is my solution. Does it offer the retention that holsters do? No. But does it cover the trigger and will be exactly where you leave it? Yes.
I designed and made this mainly because I roll around when I sleep, and oftentimes I wake up with keys, phone, water bottles etc not where I leave them.

My holsters all have retentions and being not bolted/ belted, they do require two hand operation (one hand to hold the holster). That does not exactly satisfy my check boxes:

  • Tent use, removable when packing tent
  • Quick access/ draw
  • One hand operation

This tray checks all 3 boxes and holds more things than just a pewpew.
