Diesel Heater for winter warmth!

Given that this is going to be in a very hot place, it is very important that you use only non-chlorinated brake cleaner. Otherwise you run the risk of making chlorine gas, and that’ll ruin anybody’s day.

Has anybody gone the 2kw route and wished they went for a larger heater? Hoping to camp down to -25 C/ -13 F comfortably and have my ski gear dry out. Planning to go the cubby route and recirculate air rather than pull cold air from outside.

I think 2kw is plenty for your planned installation. I’ve heard it’s better for these heaters to run on a higher setting to avoid carbon build-up, so right-sizing is important.

I have a 2kw installed in a box on the ground. When the hose is un-insulated it’s tough to get super warm. But with some thin foil covered insulation you can get it really baking (without re-circ).

I have the 2KW Planar and really like it. More than enough to keep me comfortable in an XL camper.

I’m the inverse - I got a 5kw and wish I had the 2kw. Running the fiver is just too much for the little GFC. And I like to be warm! I ended up doing a lot of stopping and starting which is not good for the heater or your battery life.

I have a similar story as @rdonahe I have the 5kW. When I can afford the permanent gasoline version; I’m going 2kw. I camp consistently in the winter in those types of temps and rarely turn the ‘temperature’ up to 20 on the control. I believe that is about 1/2 way and the un-insulated lower section of my XL 6’3 box gets to be an avg of 16 - 18 C inside.

I think the 2kW will serve you well and reduce carbon build up. I’m sure mine is long overdue for a cleaning.
