Ha! At least the ones on the website do.
Mine has one, you can see it in the upper left corner. You should definitely start posting on all your socials how upset you are because you didn’t get a patch
It was probably in the box… mine was floating in the box and I didn’t see it until I started to break down the box…
Even if it is in the box I have no choice but to destroy them on social media.
That’s just how the world works /s
(But really, I hope it is in the box still)
Is there just sticky velcro behind each of those patches?
Anyone have issues getting their camper to close after installing the headliner? My tent has always been fairly difficult to close even when empty and I’ve had a gap where the gasket is supposed to make contact on the sides. Obviously this is now much worse after installing the headliner and now I have to lean on the top tent when closing just to get the latches closed. I would consider myself average in the strength department (not the Hulk but I weight train a few days a week and am in my 30s with no injury issues) so this is concerning. GFC continues to insist that the issues are just due to a defect gasket (this is laughable given the information) and have shipped me a slightly thicker gasket. I feel like this is just putting band-aid over the issue.
I have a Hest mattress and headliner. I have the exact same bow in my sides as well. I have just added that thicker gasket, that I ordered online and replaced their thin one (which wasn’t much of anything to begin with). I am not interested in taking out the headliner at all so this will have to work. So far I have had no issues with this set up. I prefer the low profile of the GFC over any other wedge camper so it’s just part of the trade off (less ability to store up top).
Is your tent extremely hard to close? I have to lean on the thing just to get the latches to lock in. I’m worried this isn’t great for the longevity.
I would like to install the Hest mattress but I’m worried I won’t be able to get the tent closed at all with this. I’m not as concerned with the gap as I am the gaslighting from GFC. Trying to say it is a defective gasket and then sending me a new design to use. If the gasket was just defective why woudn’t you send me a replacement?
It’s “harder” to close for sure, but I can get it latched without having to lean on it. Not sure about the age of tent material and the unit itself but my build is something like 1600 so it’s had some time to wear.
It’s definitely not a gasket defect issue, as it is a wrong gasket in the first place issue. I have always chosen the thicker gasket over what they installed because it just wasn’t enough, even before the headliner.
Where do you get the thicker gasket material? Thanks.
I have a brand new unit so it’s a little harder to accept especially considering everything I have in the tent is “stock” (mattress/headliner/etc). It seems like I’m in the minority for this issue on V2 pro owners though. I know they rebuilt someone else’s V2 pro that had the same issue but they refuse to acknowledge I even have an issue.
@toomanydogs I received my gasket from GFC but it’s nothing unique so you could probably buy something similar online.
I personally thought the V2 Pro (only closed 1 of them) was also a bit more difficult to close than my V2 with the Hest. I think Scott from Overland Soft Goods originally said there was around ~1 inch of free space in the older V2 hence why they only added a 1 inch topper on the old mattresses. With the thicker turbonap, headliner, and additional fabric I felt you needed to really compress the camper. When I ran the 1in topper, I flipped those 2 rear square panels which helped to give the tent fabric a bit of extra room as well. You might want to try that.
I have the original mattress with 1" OSG foam and sheets, and the GFC headliner. While it’s not super easy to close, if I give the memory foam a minute to compress I have no issues closing it and do not have any gaps.
I have used this a couple of times now.
I initially mounted it on the fixed bottom edge and realized that just traps water along the tent. Went to GFC for an update and they mounted their thin gasket in the upper edge. Once I got the headliner I had to re apply the thicker seal.
@Dempster333 now that I think of it I used to do what @GainzGFC did before I got the Hest. Now I shift the all the to the front which gives me room at the rear of the GFC to give some playroom with the “tent stuffing”. That may be the difference maker.
I have now experienced all three versions of the V2 tents.
Each version came with more material and subsequently closing the tent became more of an effort. Now with the new GFC mattress I don’t even attempt to leave any bedding in the tent now.
I have found that if I close the V2 Pro tent with the zippers closed I get the same issue as described in the previous post. I have been experimenting with different closing procedures. I find that if I leave the side doors rolled up and clasped with the straps the tent will close easier. The same goes if I open the zippers all the way and tuck the netting and door material in as far as I can close is easier and the seals meet.
There is just too much material now along the edges if you try to close with the doors zipped up.
I do not have the headliner. That would make closing even tougher.
If you have not already done so experiment with the different tent configurations to see if you can create the seal.
The downside of leaving the sides unzipped is you run the risk of getting water into the tent area. Unfortunately when I remove the mattress and panels and let the tent drape down into the bed I still have a gap on the sides. In my situation I think having a gap and relying on the waterproof fabric(zipped closed) is better than risking a wet tent and truck bed.
It’s really a damned if ya do, damned if ya don’t. I’d love if the the tent was properly designed/manufactured to be able to close properly even if it meant a 1/2 inch of height.
For my V2 Pro I have had no issues leaving the external front door part zipped and tucked a third/half down, it lets the air out and closes tightly
I do the same but from the bottom since I have a V2
