Thank you so much for this lead, I will check them out!!
Urgh, sorry you got the same run-around. With as big as the market is for overlanding, you’d think they’d figure this out?! Maybe you’ll have luck with Tredder too!
I imagine if you had access to them you’d have em already but USAA hasn’t given me any grief
I have a grandpa who was in the Navy - could that give me access to USAA as a carrier?
I got the same Progressive non-renewal notice. Frustrating.
Iirc it’s a parental thing.
But good news (I think)
If your parent signed up( using grandparent service as qualifier)
Then you could sign up using your parent as the legacy qualifier
I think I recall one of their ads specifically mentioning grandparents but I could be wrong. I made sure to get my daughter coverage through them
Joining the military might be a better option than trying to deal with some of these other insurance companies. I spent almost an hour on the phone with Geico and then they sent me a quote with a Farmer’s Insurance header. I think they outsourced the coverage to a competitor.
Thank you all for weighing in! Maybe starting our own insurance co-op for GFCs is the next big idea?!
give my boy Jake from State Farm a call. he’s a pretty chill guy and insures whatever is attached to my truck.
I second State Farm! No issues and like 30$ a year something really not noticeable
I think your grandpa needed to be a member (and with that generation, to qualify he had to be an officer), but it is worth looking into it. I have nothing but the best to say about USAA.
Jake for the win!! Thank you! Does State Farm just consider it an accessory/custom part? I have a custom built drawer system (plus all the gear it holds) in the bed and platform build in the rear seat that would be cool if I could include all of that too!
USAA isn’t the company it used to be. Far more expensive and less coverage than years ago.
I blame the Navy
We all do, especially us Marines…
I have my GFC insured in the SF Bay Area with Farmers. They added coverage for the value of the topper as an insured accessory/modification for the vehicle.
Good thread on all things GFC Insurance - PSA Insure your camper!
I went through GEICO, insured for $8k “camper shell” at $92 per year
Thank you all for sharing! State Farm was awesome, adding coverage for the GFC was $16/6 months, and all my gear/other mods will be covered under personal property with renters insurance. Getting all 3 insurances (auto/camper/renters) is still a couple hundred bucks cheaper than just the auto with Progressive, so definitely happy to make the switch!!
I had no problems with Geico RV insurance. They’ve been wonderful. I just used my production # for them to list something which they said they really didn’t need. I purchased my unit used and they just insured it based on current replacement with all the options I have.
I used to have Progressive Insurance when I owned a Powersport Dealership. Great back in the day with motorcycles. But they can’t even come close with Geico. Both companies were always wonderful to work with when customers had accidents. State Farm and Nationwide were the worst!
