I leave Friday for a Saturday install… let’s hope they did their homework on the updated dimensions. I had several communications with them regarding the differences, so I am assuming positive intent.
Thats pretty crazy that they are doing Saturday installs.
I just paid my invoice, so hopefully next week I should be scheduling something for the future
They’re doing both Saturday and Sunday installs. When I was up last weekend (5/8) I believe that they said that was their first weekend offering them.
Hmm, I wonder if they are doing proactive hinge replacements on weekends…
John (install contact) said they are moving to a weekend install schedule when I talked to him last week. I believe the team is there Friday through Monday now.
After a two weeks trying to pay my invoice with a credit card and failing. I mailed in a check, and it took two weeks and multiple emails and they finally got it today. I’ve never worked so hard to get someone to take my money. 6 to 8 weeks is what Brittany told me, which puts it in the time frame my boss didn’t want, right in the middle of her busy Summer Rental season. She has this weird idea that I should want to work 60 hours a week. Saturday, I looked at her and said “Do you know what semi-retired is? Its what I am. I don’t need to work 7 days a week. 22 hours a week pays my bills. I have other things I need to do” I keep telling her to hire someone to replace me when I’m gone, but she hasn’t even started looking. This is a woman who is trying to run 3 businesses. Only one of them makes her any money. She seems baffled that I’m not motivated by money. She doesn’t understand it.
That’s funny. my wife is the same way. best decision I ever made was semi-retiring. She’s mad at me for going to work after her and get home before her. I told I can get get her a job no problem. what’s really sad is after you break down salary into hourly she gets paid less than me AND I get better health insurance for less
here’s to retirement
Well, they definitely had positive intent, but unfortunately things didn’t work out exactly according to plan. Sorry for the long post, but here it goes:
I made great time driving from Colorado Springs to Montana, so much so that I was pulling into Belgrade around 3ish. I had no where to sleep, so I had the bright idea of swinging by GFC to see if they could install my camper a day early giving me somewhere to sleep for the night. While they were trying to accommodate me, they quickly realized something had gone wrong. There was some mix up in the data entry (possibly before my truck model, a 2020 GMC 2500, existed in the system), so the camper was built for the wrong model truck Thats when the GFC team kicked into high gear, they felt horrible and were trying to do anything to make it as right as possible. One of the engineers came up with the idea of using an old V1 space frame that just might fit, then planned to put a superlite tent on top. If they could pull this off, it would give me a place to crash for the remainder of my trip and until my unit was ready. It worked! To celebrate, a couple of the guys and I decided to go drink some bourbon I brought up from a local Colorado Springs distillery.
Bottom line, the GFC guys took care of me and turned what could have been shitty situation into a positive one. I look forward to getting the correct unit installed, but for now I will enjoy my Frankenstein build knowing I am “one of a kind”
Definitely making lemonade out of lemons! Now you have a great excuse for a second road trip to Montana.
That’s a bummer but glad that sorted something out for ya!
Did you find some salmonflys at least? Need to head up that way soon to look for them.
